With all the movement to AC I'd imagine you should get YVR before you're done training

Re: New hire bids
Nah, that’s what everyone said but I waited 6 months from first day of ground school to hold YVR on the RJ.
All my classmates that chose the Q got YVR before training’s completed.
Re: New hire bids
You basically just told me I'm right haha. But good I'm glad it worked out. As long as you're not looking for YYC, it works itself out eventually.Turboprops wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 7:18 pmNah, that’s what everyone said but I waited 6 months from first day of ground school to hold YVR on the RJ.

Re: New hire bids
Well I’m saying the Q will get him YVR faster, based on my personal experience, not that 6 months is long or anything.
Re: New hire bids
174 new pilots required in latest equipment bid - not including anticipated resignation attrition!
For 2023, you can probably add 300+ resignations. AC. Porter. Flair. Morningstar. Cargojet. Sunwing. And the list goes on……
Bid reflects staffing requirements for ‘peak period’ which is summer 2023.

Re: New hire bids
I guess it all depends if AC continues hiring Jazz pilots after March. I don't think they've stated it yet.rudder wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:25 am 174 new pilots required in latest equipment bid - not including anticipated resignation attrition!

Re: New hire bids
Using the 60% requirement, AC attrition alone would be 300+. Remains to be seen given pattern of last 12 months (non-compliance with flow terms of the Jazz Pilot CBA).Babar350 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:46 amI guess it all depends if AC continues hiring Jazz pilots after March. Regardless, attrition to ‘other than’ AC will probably also be 100+. Porter will become a significant destination for Jazz EMB pilots now that the E2 operation is on the cusp of starting up.
There are also instances of ‘job offered’ and ‘in training’ pilots leaving Jazz for other superior economic and career opportunities.

And they still manage to find 20 pilots every 3 weeks to fill the classes...rudder wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 9:52 amUsing the 60% requirement, AC attrition alone would be 300+. Re: New hire bids
IFJazz can find AND retain 20 new-hire pilots every third Monday, it will probably still not keep up with 2023 attrition, not to mention upgrade ability issues.
And if AC flow ratio is not honoured, non-AC attrition rates will increase exponentially.
There needs to be a broader solution reached involving ALL parties. There is no sign that is coming.
Re: New hire bids
Any truth to the rumour of Porter offering higher pay scales to start for pilots with E175 time?
Let’s Go Brandon
Re: New hire bids
Better rumour (fact?) is Porter offering a $7500 bonus to any employee that refers a successful E170 endorsed pilot applicant……
There are 250+ E170 endorsed Jazz pilots. That is quite a hiring pool if a better offer is made than what Jazz is offering.

Re: New hire bids
That would be fact. Or rather any referral gets a bonus. Less for FO’s more for Q DEC most for e2 DEC. I think the FO was just under $1000, maybe 800? E2 could be that high but i’m not sure exact numbers.
Re: New hire bids
I have heard that in some instances that ‘referer’ and ‘referee’ are splitting the $7500……C-GGGQ wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 1:09 pmThat would be fact. Or rather any referral gets a bonus. It is now the ‘standard’ that a starting B737 CA with Part 705 command experience is worth at least $150/hr on day 1. Porter is offering around $125/hr for a smaller airplane. If a pilot shows up previously endorsed (transferable PPC) requiring just a Porter PPC it should be worth a signing bonus of at least $20k in training cost savings considering reduced training footprint.

Re: New hire bids
Definitely a possibility. I know that the steakhouse reservation is on my referer if I get in. Just depends on how good friends you are I guess
Re: New hire bids
Absent a significant pay recalibration and AC flow agreement honoured to the letter, I predict a significant exodus of Jazz E175 pilots to Porter in 2023 continuing in to 2024. We are talking dozens to 100+.
I wonder how long the parties will cling to status quo?
Re: New hire bids
I think it is just ego at this point holding them back. I think the idea of treating pilots as an integral part of their operation, and dealing with us on an even playing field to those in the head office is just so unpalatable to them that they will do anything to avoid it.rudder wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 1:22 pmAbsent a significant pay recalibration and AC flow agreement honoured to the letter, I predict a significant exodus of Jazz E175 pilots to Porter in 2023 continuing in to 2024. And Porter will send their ‘thanks’ to whomever made that strategic decision.truedude wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 1:27 pm

Just as Westjet is in the west, with their new YEG base and expanded western schedule.rudder wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 1:31 pmAnd Porter will send their ‘thanks’ to whomever made that strategic decision.truedude wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 1:27 pm

This could all have been avoided if a year ago they up the pay by 20% and made sure the 60% flow was honored. Instead they tried a mickey mouse solution that didn't work. No one trusts them on the 60% flow as a result. And it will cost way more than 20% to fix the flow now.
