What flight bag do you use?
I'm in the market for a new flight bag (been using a company issued one) I was wondering what the consensus is around the airline pilot world of which is the best/most practical one is?

May not be what your looking for, but I use the Aerocoast EFB + Cooler II.
https://www.aerocoast.com/aerocoast-coo ... g-278.html
Depends on what kind of flying job you're doing I guess, but for me it works awesome, cause it fits beside my seat in the cockpit. I have all my reading material I need on my iPad and it fits in the side pocket, along with miscellaneous papers. Top pocket fits headset. Cooler is great cause you don't eat crap food and pocket per diems! Of course it has a side pocket for licences, pens etc, and a water bottle holder.

I use this. $38 in store. Buy 5 for the price of one "aviation" bag. It's branded "CIAO" in store. I've seen a lot of pilots/FAs with them.

I use a Victorinox bag.
Well designed, well built...
Carried 2 Jepp binders, tablet, headset and everything else I needed... Now that I've ditched having to carry the Jepp binders it's even better - not a giant heavy leather case that's half empty...
Amazon has them on sale from time to time...

Briggs & Riley.
A bit pricey, but light weight and guaranteed for life. It's the last one you'll ever have to buy. As the world transitions to electronic documents the big leather and steel steamer trunks you see in the aviation supply stores must not be as popular anymore.

Best bag I've ever had for flying. Lots of useful pockets and fits next to the seat in most FDs. It's lightweight, perfect size and cheap. I've used it for over 3 years. The retractable handle is kinda flimsy but it hasn't failed me in 2 years. And if it does you just get a new one for $38. Actually I'm on my second bag, not because it broke but because when it started to wear I figured why not get a new one for the price. Love this bag..
Re: What flight bag do you use?
I use a Herschel strand duffle for a flight bag at work and seconds as my diaper bag for baby
. Of course I got burned by one captain who said it looked like an old lady bag... I don't care to carry some clapped out bag from aviation world so to each your own! #millennialfashiontakingovertheflightdeck

Walked past it at Costco a few times. Shopped on Amazon for 'flight bags' a couple months ago, saw the prices and went straight back to Costco and bought the Ciao.
You'd be surprised how much you can fit in it for a pairing.
Works great and still comes with a 2 year warranty for 36 bucks...

I use this one:

Light and well built... been using since a couple of years and it's holding up pretty well. I've seen guys using the Briggs & Riley also. Like mentioned above, a bit on the pricey side but you can't pass on a lifetime warranty!
Definitely going to be my next choice.....in a couple of years, I hope!
Cheers

Yeah so far I've liked it. I'm new and have only used it a bit, but it fits in the RJ hole which is one of the smallest and I have no trouble getting everything I need for a flight in there. Lunch, headset, ipad stuff, my glasses etc. etc.schnitzel2k3 wrote:+2Black_Tusk wrote:I use this. $38 in store. Buy 5 for the price of one "aviation" bag. It's branded "CIAO" in store. The Costco Ciao Bag is useless. Its got one large pocket that you throw your efb, snacks, and clothes all into like a plastic bag. Its the only wheels carry on bag that doesn't have laptop slot. If you don't want to bring a laptop on the road with you and you don't mind not having dividers then I would think it might be okay. Costco sells a samsonite carry on that has many separate pockets as well as lap top storage. Its 75$.

Works ok for me. EFB fits perfectly in the side pouch, head set, lunch kit, gloves and toque in the big pocket. Various dodads in the other pockets. Sure it ain't perfect but it's cheap. $75 is also a good price, if I saw it before then maybe I'd have chosen it but oh well.

Rimowa.
Oh wait, it doesn't have a place to put a lunchkit or snack from Subway.
Never mind.

I have a laptop size bag to carry my legal essentials (EFB IPAD, license and passport). Total weight probably 5-7 lbs.

I use a 3 pocket samsonite roller I found on Amazon. 90 bucks I think.
It has way too much room but is nice to have if I decide not to bring my normal overnight bag.

Since I'm only CPL and working on IFR, this little thing fits my flying needs perfectly.
