NT Ice Bridge
Does anyone have any idea how long the ice bridge at Ft. Providence will remain open for this year? The recorded voice on the highway info line doesn't give much info...thnx

Mackenzie River ice crossing to close
The time has come for the Mackenzie River ice crossing to close. The Department of Transportation is advising travellers that the popular crossing on Highway 3 at Fort Providence is closing tomorrow (Tuesday). It is scheduled to shut down at 3 in the afternoon Tuesday. The department shuts the crossing down when it is no longer safe to travel on it. Once it closes, there is no way to cross the river until ferry service starts for the season. Normally, it's three to four weeks between closure of the ice crossing and resumption of ferry service.
