If they're even open right now. They usually shut down for a month or two after Christmas. It was a very long month or two. Thank goodness for the seaport burger.

These conditions started last night and continued on through to about noon today.

For those wondering, ///// means the wind measuring equipment cannot register the winds as they are to strong.

Once landed a C-150 in the midwest USA,,, 11 people came to hold the plane down on the runway when we touched down until it was tied down with 2 trucks, they put a fuel truck in front of the plane BAD idea !,, after a walk to the sandstorm obscured terminal building, ceiling was blown down, operator was cut up pretty good by glass shards from blown in window.,, I looked at the windmeter ,,, gusting to 95 MPH ! Beer was on me ! The hardest part was doing a 360 degree low level turn around the airport AFTER not being able to line up on final ( a small incremental turn launched the gps pointer off 45 degrees and then the low level illusion combined with near 0 viz in sand necessitating an instrument 360 ! ) Took off that evening when it died down to about 45 mph. There is more to that story,, but you would need to pry it out of me with some intoxicating liquor !

Now I see how how you got your handle? What was the forecast wind?

What was the forecast wind?
I don't remember what it was, but unlikely it was what I encountered. I'm sure I did a post flight analysis to try to figure out how i got myself into that situation. The flight in question was a delivery flight of my plane to a Mexican buyer from Ontario many moons ago and the unfamiliarity with the local weather and airports along the way contributed i'm sure, to a less than perfect picture of the weather.
Now I see how how you got your handle?
I initially chose it for its possible disarming qualities,,,,

My brother did not find it hard to believe, he was sitting next to me in the F_____G Plane ! I can PM you his number if you wish ! His initials are LVP

I told a fellow commercial pilot ( lady) a few stories, she came back later and told me that she did not believe anything I said ! I don't think she ever flew under a bridge or powerline or landed on a lake in her whole lifetime and immediately I lost my respect for her!!!

Too many wet behind the ears, commercial wannabes living in their parents basement for me to tell any stories ( ALL TRUE ) on avcanada :D

You could tell us more about your windy landing experience as you said there was more. Quite an interesting experience.

You needed a runway? I landed a 150 in 80Kts of wind one day and just flew a backwards final approach (you know Omni-Vision) right into the hangar, closed the doors and went for some intoxicating liquor. Almost hit the back wall of the hangar with the tail so after that my personal wind limit in the 150 was 60Kts.
A good friend was in the right seat at the time. His initials are DJT.

Ahhh, we used to dream of being able to fly in 80 knots of wind. We had to do the walkaround in the eyewall of the hurricane while being required to add oil without a drop missing the oil tube with our instructor thrashing us at the same time. Then we had to take off downwind and keep a completely square pattern for multiple circuits and land on the runway with the greatest crosswind component exactly on the centerline all before our first solo.

But you know, we were happy in those days even though we had no hours. My old dad used to say...experience doesn't bring you happines son.

Haha,
Well one is on the Hudson Bay coast, surrounded by frozen ocean and tundra. The other is world class in terms of complaining about winter weather.
