Aviation Headset Repair Shop

Post by FAD3C »

Hi everyone,
I bought a pair of Beyerdynamic HS 600 back in 2010 during an Oshkosh Airshow and they've been showing signs of some sort of interference in the recent months. Everytime I move the mic away from my mouth so I can eat/drink something, it makes a distortion sound that goes across to the other pilot too. I have called a couple of shops in Toronto (Bay Bloor Radio and Ring Audio) but they cannot help me. Does anyone know any place I can take these to get looked at by a technician? Beyerdynamic discontinued their aviation headset product line a while ago so I doubt they will be any help, and warranty has already ran out. Headset looks like so.
Cheers

Call Kitchener Aero. They've worked on my helmet a couple times. Great guys in there, with fast and quality work.

You could also check with Field in YYZ:

Toronto Facility
Pearson International Airport
2450 Derry Road East, Hangar 2
Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L5S 1B2
(905) 676-1540

They installed aftermarket noise canceling in a pair of DC's for me years ago; nice work.

Brant Aero in Brantford is the Canadian authorized repair station for Bose. They might be able to work on your headset as well.

I called Brantford Aero and they guided me to Beyerdynamic's audio repair shop for other headphones and such. The place is called Trew Audio. I called them and dropped off the HS600, let's see if they can figure out the issue and fix it.
Thanks for the inputs

While the topic is up, is there a Canadian repair shop for Lightspeed? Last time I had to send it down to the states...

Field Aviation sells the Lightspeed headsets and can do basic troubleshooting and minor repair. Anything more than that they will send it out to the factory for repair.

905-676-1540 ask for Avionics Service
