Confederation College is currently looking to fill two float instructor positions for their summer float flying operation. They are looking for someone with a valid instructor rating with 1000hrs total time and 300-400 hrs on floats. I believe it is a contract position that will terminate at the end of the summer. Will they accept someone with an intro flight but 1000 hours on flight sim 2000 on complex aircraft, helicopters and the wright brothers plane?

Yup, I'm pretty sure they want an instructor rating. And I agree, a float pilot with that much time has quite a few better options than instructing, but I hear rumours that the pay for the job is really really favourable.

What happend to the good old insturctors that normally did the float ratings? I had some of the best instructors you could find for float plane training. What they passed on to me kept me alive and well for many years on floats. I would like to know why they are looking for outside instructors?

As for the job opeing, if it is true, it would be a sweet deal. The college has great people running the program and amazing equipment to fly. Mntnc is top notch and quality of instruction is very high. What a way to spend the summer!

i was there for a viste and they told me that they have 2 year contracts on all of the school positions so they keep people fresh there, and they don't get stale...

I'm sure all the same senior instructors are there, but I understand that this year the college admitted around 50% more students than years previous (probably to help fund the new facilities).

With that kind of increase they will need more manpower for the summer training, and since their contract instructors haven't been coming from strong float backgrounds recently they need to shore-up the number of float capable instructors. I wouldn't be surprised as well if they will need these instructors to do some of the summer commercial level training.

The reason they want an instructor rating is so that the time can count towards the students commercial license. And yes, all the senior guys are still there and still teach floats.
