Jazz & Post secondary

Post by Bede »

Does Jazz give preference to guys with college or university? I can't help but notice that everyone (I think) at my company with 4000+ hrs and a diploma has gotten an interview and no one with 4000+ and no post secondary has gotten a call.

Too Low,

I didn't mean to offend you. I was just making an observation. A couple guys I work with have more time than I do, but I have a degree, they don't, and they're waiting for calls. I was just curious why that was.

When a company has a formal, professional HR department controlling the hiring, never under estimate the advantage of an education in the eyes of these types of people. Even if the requirement is not formally stated. These people are not pilots, they are HR specialists and academic in orientation. When they see an education and not just a pilot lic. it makes them smile. :D

Jazz has a formal and professional HR dept??? I think not - a baboon could do a better job in HR than some of the clowns they have contracted out

and maybe they're older as well???

Don't jump to conclusions.

Maybe they're computer illiterate and screwed up the application?

I got a call from JAZZ this morning and I have no degree or diploma.
I must say the HR lady seemed a little strange. She asked if I was aware of the starting salary. I responed with 38 which I now realise is the Main line starter. She said no that it was 34. I could her laugh a little when she said 34K.

So sad... Bede, our Dash 7 and 8 guys have been cleaned out. All hired at Jazz. I dont know that any had any post secondary education. Now they are dipping into our King air guys. Education seems irrelevant.
I have just under 4000 and a university degree and NO ONE has called me.... YET.

About 1/2 of us have post-secondary (Sault or Seneca)

I don't think it really helps you very much but it certainly doesn't hurt.
