Getting the CPL from 0...how long?
Hello,
Planning to start the CPL training from scratch this August in Montreal area. Is it possible to get it in one year considering the long winters in QC?
Thank you

Totally. You’ll need more then money however. You’ll need total commitment and dedication.
PPL - 3 months
Night rating - 1 week
Time building - 1 month. You’ll need this for your IFR
Group 1 IFR - 1 month
Commercial time building if required - 1 month
Commercial training - 3 months
Factor in some weather days and days off and you’ll get close to a year.

It's possible to do it in even less time. I mean without trying to do it as quick as possible I did my IFR alone in only 2 weeks. It's possible in even less with a dedicated student and instructor. Some guys in Florida do PPLs in 2 weeks. Winter will be a challenge for sure and it depends on what kind of weather you, your instructor, and your flight school are comfortable in.

One year if you’re really on the ball. Two years, realistically.
Remember, you’ll still be ahead of the puppy mill students that have to arrive with a PPL, are in a structured two year course, and often struggle getting the hours due to aircraft availability and draconian rules regarding outside time building.

Send me a PM, I will be able to help you.
FYI in Montreal, the average best I've seen is 12-14 months for super students, and it can go up to 2 years for slower people.

I did my training on the east coast in 10 months. Considering the east coast winters it shouldn't be be a problem to do in YUL

Entirely possible. I went from zero to wanna be hero in 6 months. CPL + Float Rating.
