Calgary / Springbank Tower Positions!!

Post by AmbrusFernas »

Hi,

What are the chances of being sent to Calgary or Springbank towers after finishing phase one training? Are these places in high demand like Victoria or not so much?

Thanks.10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254 hotmail.com

Can't speak to YBW, but YYC has had 5 ab-initios in the last 10 years. So it's rare, but does happen. All 5 qualified, but Nav Canada won't put you in a position to fail in your initial post. If you don't get the location you want, go qualify in the assigned post. Then you can bid to your desired site with full salary and return rights.

Gordon is responsible for two other sites: Yellowknife Tower and Yellowknife Flight Service Station. He calls Yellowknife home, and describes the commute to southern Alberta as painless: it’s a two-hour flight to Calgary International Airport and then a half-hour drive to the Springbank Tower.

What does that have to do with the OP's question?

The Springbank Airport acts as a general aviation reliever for Calgary's main airport, Calgary International, and was the 5th busiest airport in Canada by total aircraft movements in 2020 and 2021.
