Male:female ratio

Hello- I am still very early in the process but am curious as to the male to female ratio of applicants. For those who have attended any in person stages what would you say the split was?
I know that the female employee % is quite low (I have read varying numbers but generally between 15-25%). Wondering if this is still true with current candidate pools as well?

For the FEAST session I attended there were 20+ men and 2 women. At the 2 day bootcamp there were 9 men and 1 woman. I am starting a course next month, the class consists of 10 men and 2 women.

Seems like it's pretty much the same percentages with current applicants then. Interesting! Thanks for the feedback

I'm also YYZ, waiting for the next session as well. If we both get the next invite then at least two women!

In my IFR course, we started with 13 students.
6 female and 7 male... so almost 50/50.

Training is sounding very difficult, you're doing great! How many people are still in your training class? May I ask what happened to the ones that are no longer there?

Out out 13, we have 8 remaining. We are nearing the end of specialty training.
I'm not really at liberty to discuss details of other students... but in general most are CT'd for failing evals.

How much time are you given to practice on the sims for upcoming evals? Can you go practice anytime you're done classes?

In generic training, you can practice as much as you want because the sim is voice recognition and you operate it on your own.
Most of us came in on the weekends, especially before an eval. The centre is open 24 hours, so you can come in and practice as much as you'd like.
In speciality, the sim is run by specialized staff, so there is no practicing during specialty.

That explains the CT rates in specialty

Do you feel they are providing enough practice sessions to prepare for specialty evals?

Trust me, more access to the simulator during specialty training has very little to do with success rates. The courses are built to allow enough time to acquire the necessary skills for OJT. If at the end of the specialty course you are CT’d its not because you didn’t have enough time. If the instructors feel more simulation is required, they’ll arrange for it.

Sorry, what does CT’d mean? TIA
