Standard Weights

Post by Snowgoose »

Did a little searching today because a question popped in my head. Can't find an answer anywhere. When do you switch from Summer Standard Weights to Winter? Is it December 21? It's not in the CARS or AIM, at least not that I could find. When do you swtich back, first day of spring?

Sorry, didn't we just increase the weights too? I think I've been using 185...

This question is answered in your Ops Manual, since it can vary by region. I thought I had read somewhere in a TC pub Oct 1st was the switcheroo, but maybe I just pulled that out of my a$$...

You can take 13lbs off the weights, if you have weighted all the bags. so male is 187lb in the case

Apparently TC has adjusted the use of standard weights away from a set time to change. Unless in your ops manual (supercedes all) the pilot is supposed to make an educated assesment of the conditions, and be prepared to justify if ramped. If it's cold use winter, if it's hot use summer!

Also, has anyone noticed the add on to alcohol use prior to flying by TC. It is no longer just 8-hours from bottle to throttle, now they have added 'or under the influence of alcohol'. So much for the pounding of that 26-er 8hrs 15min prior to take-off!!!

lol well thats wut the guys in northern sask do all the time. nothing like getting a call for a medivac when you dont even know where the f*<k you are!! and for anyone from sask, the winter weights should be used year round and flipped around. The female weights should be more than the males. Have you seen the size of some of these women....my goodness!!!! You talk about having big shoes to fill when it comes to the weight, try having to put yourself as a child for weight purposes cuz its closer than any of the rest.
