Low pay? now that's funny!! I can't speak for the King Air/Caravan side of things but I know for a fact that the starting salaries for 1900 F.O./Capts at NT are a lot higher than what 1900 drivers at either Sunwest, CMA or Cariboo get paid. Doesn't mean we all shouldn't get paid more, but at least be happy that you're on the higher end!

It seems everybody has to start a rumor based on heresay. If everybody wants to leave, then perhaps that's what they should do. Weeds in a good company do nothing but hold everybody else back.
I've heard nothing but good comments on management, the owners and the equipment.

I just like starting rumors, "so I was talking to some older AC pilots, and they seemed disgruntled, but they didn't want to elaborate..."Swamp Donkey wrote:It seems everybody has to start a rumor.
LOL.
I don't know what kind of "chatting" you did, but if they didn't want to "chat" with you, i think it falls into eavesdropping, and even then, if you had started the thread with, "I over heard....." it's still funny....
And I think everyone in aviation is "disgruntled" over something, and if you aren't, you should have your head checked....

The truth is that no company is perfect, and some are better than others. In my experience at nt, hard work is not really rewarded, brown nosing and being in good with the bosses might.
Sure we make more than cma but they only work half the month too.
But when they don't issue the schedule for the month till the first of the month, and then keep revising it continually...it's hard to stay positive about it. I could say a lot more, but whatever. The company just is not giving the guys any reason to want to work their butts off for them.
And what the guy said about getting fired if a union was mentioned, he's not joking.

You @ss! You probably work at NT and are unhappy because your not getting upgraded to left seat so now your gonna stir up shit! Really mature. Even if you don't work for them this post is point and shows the the lack of respect you have for the industry and fellow pilot who are happy at NT.bluesky99 wrote:Hey just wondering if anyone knows what's going on there. the majority of your posts are sticking up for or defending CMA/NTAir.- do you work for them?gonnabeapilot wrote:Low pay? now that's funny!! Thunderbird.
I do work for NT.
And of course there's going to people who think it's a "crappy" place to work, or:
-they don't pay enough.
-they work to much each month.
-somebody in management doesn't like them.
-they aren't getting upgraded when they deserve to be....-could there be a reason for that you think?

Like somebody else said, it doesn't matter what company or job you have. Something could always be better. Shouldn't everybody make a million bucks and fly 2 hours a day with a 3 hour duty day?
Isn't the goal really to work less, make more money, and enjoy life? Well, what your going to find at NT is you work hard, and your rewarded later for doing so. Yes your going work 6 days in a row, and they have potential to be long days (1900's). The medevac on the other hand, 4 on 4 off, 12 hour shifts.
Well to those who are whinning about the above items, Suck it up. You obviously thought it was a good place to work when you applied to work at NT didn't you? If you don't like it, leave (But I'm sure you'll whine a bit more on here prior to doing so).
And one more note, do you think somebody is going to feel sorry for you cause you might have to move to Prince George or possibly Smithers?
NT Air is one of kind. The management/office/maint. teams are fantastic, the pilots are some of the best guys you could ask to work with.
That's my two bits, have fun ripping it & or me apart now.
Justin.

I worked for NT on a very short contract, the guys i met were great and the management way very honest! I know a lot of guys who would kill to get into NT.

I have a friend that works for Cathay, F/O A340 relief capt. on a 747, and will be a full capt. soon. He's making 300k+ a year. The moral is that 10 years ago he almost quit aviation to work as a roofer! Do you think he is fully satisfied and happy? Hell no ... i love listening to his bitching, per diems are down to $250 a day ..etc..you get the point.
People in aviation are famous for giving up their life in order to be a pilot, and move up to the next bigger thing; then they wake up 10yrs later ...miserable. Enjoy your life outside the cockpit, and flying becomes a job that you go home from, NOT a place to live your life.
Good luck to all you aviators, it's a tough road, gotta love it!
