JetBlue too.fish4life wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 9:25 pm The chances of any of these smaller carriers succeeding just keeps decreasing. If it was just porter or just flair or just swoop or just Canada jetlines (if that’s still a thing) I think it’s possible for one of them to be successful. Unfortunately right now all the carriers are going to have so much capacity that it’s just going to result in some short term pricing war with likely none of them coming out the other end.

Don't forget Enerjet - they were interviewing a while ago and starting an airline imminently.

There is a certain Porter owner who has been part of previous historical plays to corner aircraft delivery slots for potential resale.
I wonder if that is what is going on here?

Porter is not in any financial situation to purchase new aircraft.
What are they going to do with them? Park them next to the Qs?

I saw the article and immediately remembered that I made a skeptical remark about it.schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:56 amHmm eating those words now.notwhoyouthinkIam wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 5:37 pm Not happening.

Yes, definitely eating my words now.
Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
Porter hasn’t ‘bought’ anything yet. They have signed an order sheet for 30 aircraft. Perhaps placed deposits.notwhoyouthinkIam wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:59 amI saw the article and immediately remembered that I made a skeptical remark about it.schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:56 amHmm eating those words now.notwhoyouthinkIam wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 5:37 pm Not happening.

‘Bought’ happens with forward payments and final delivery settling of account. Ultimate transaction may be sale to third party with leaseback.

Hehe all good, at least it's very positive news for an industry absolutely brutalized by the pandemic in Canada.notwhoyouthinkIam wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:59 amI saw the article and immediately remembered that I made a skeptical remark about it.schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:56 amHmm eating those words now.notwhoyouthinkIam wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 5:37 pm Not happening.

Indeed, very good to hear such news. Wishing Porter every success in this new adventure, competition is good for everyone.schnitzel2k3 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 11:15 amHehe all good, at least it's very positive news for an industry absolutely brutalized by the pandemic in Canada.notwhoyouthinkIam wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:59 amI saw the article and immediately remembered that I made a skeptical remark about it.

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
It was conditional on being allowed to use them into the island was it not ?
Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
I believe that is correct. It is interesting that they chose to purchase the E195-E2 and it was not conditional on having access for the aircraft at YTZ. Leaves me wondering, had they kept the conditional order for the A220, instead of letting it lapse, would they have today announced the firming of the order with the intent to operate it out of YYZ, etc,?goldeneagle wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 2:19 pmIt was conditional on being allowed to use them into the island was it not ?

The instant Porter leaves the security of CYTZ and ventures into CYYZ country they will be served a beating by Team Teal and the AC Mothership.

Re: Porter receiving E195-E2?
Where will they get the gates from at YYZ? Sunwing was having a hard enough time getting gates at T3, and so completely moved all operations to the infield terminal just before COVID hit. Last time I was in YUL, most of the gates at the main terminal were occupied as well as the satellite terminal where Jazz and Air North operate.
I'm sure they have it figured out, but I'm just curious how they'll operate 30 let alone 80 aircraft at these airports.
