Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
VPS 3 emails went out today. There were enough bypasses that it went all the way to the BOTL with even some remaining vacancies (4 YYZ Rouge 319 and 1 YYZ 330 FO).
Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Would there be a VPS 4.0 or will AC be assigning training courses in reverse order of seniority?
If the latter is the case, what’s the process involved?

Any confirmation of the number of ppl who’ve bypassed? Doing rough math using the recall numbers and the furlough list, I’m getting something around 180 (+/-) bypassed.
Does this seem about right?

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
They recalled 42 more pilots in VPS 2 than they originally planned. So that would leave about 140 after VPS 3. But it's possible they recalled more than originally planned this round as well, so it's probably less than 140 deferrals.

Who wants to bet the last round of recalls are delayed after WWIII?

I doubt it. I think everyone will be back on the list on 22-01.alkaseltzer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:09 am Who wants to bet the last round of recalls are delayed after WWIII?

If war in Europe breaks out being botl at aircanada will be the least of your problems.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
There's around 130 pilots still on furlough, so this bid suggests the planned hiring of a significant number of pilots in the next 12 month period.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. I’d be more surprised if they did plan to hire the -300 this bid shows than if they just ran with the deficit.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
We never had any CMSC bid showing 1000 vacancies or more.Sharklasers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:05 pm AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
We had vacancies in every bid, but that is because they kept adding more positions. While there were those vacancies the company was hiring 40 a month. There wasn’t a time I recall where there was a large number of vacancies and no hiring.Sharklasers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:05 pm AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
At what point are the deferred recalls obligated to return? Or are they on LOA?
Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
Next VPS will be "accept the position or request an LOA"
After which, hiring will one again commence.
Still on track to have everyone back by summer/mid summer. Hoping to run a new hire class late summer/early fall.
If there are a significant amount of LOAs granted on the next VPS those timelines can move up.
Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
None of this is true at all. The largest bid ever was in the 900s. That was in 2019 and they were hiring and training as much as they possibly could. In 2018 every bid was less than 500.Sharklasers wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 8:05 pm AC ran bids showing 1000-1500 vacancies for years and years prior to covid and never intended to staff them all. Anyone knows when VPS4.0 is going to take place?

22-01 closes March 17. Give it a week or two after that for the results to be published, and then they’ll run a VPS probably a week after that to backfill the vacancies.

Any guesses when and if AC will start hiring in 2022?
