Afganistan evacuation take off
No trees were harmed in the transmission of this message. However, a rather large number of electrons were temporarily inconvenienced.

What’s the holdover time for Type IV in this situation? Seriously though the Taliban can send suicide bombers into the crowd and it won’t end well.

FOD sweep desperately needed... geezus.

Can’t blame the USAF, if I was operating out there I’d be doing a reverse power out push back and getting as far away as possible and hope you don’t suck too many into the engines

How much money and people did we lose to have this happen?

The US alone spent 2.2 trillion.
Allied deaths in the 10,000 range
Now it’s back to being ruled by 7th century cave men. What a waste.

There are those of us who called this over 18 years ago.
Afghanistan isn’t called the “Graveyard of Empires” for nothing.
Haha, you fool! You fell victim to one of the Classic Blunders: The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia…”

And yet, for the billions sent there, and thousands of western lives (not to mention the Afghani casualties) profoundly affected, we couldn't hold on to Kabul for another 6 months, and ensure an escape for the hundreds of Afghan citizens who helped the western powers along the way? Farken politicians..
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Absolutely cluster fook. 20 years of money and lives wasted for 45 seconds of digital gore of a USAF transport dropping people on a runway like rice bags in Air America.North Shore wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 2:35 pm And yet, for the billions sent there, and thousands of western lives (not to mention the Afghani casualties) profoundly affected, we couldn't hold on to Kabul for another 6 months, and ensure an escape for the hundreds of Afghan citizens who helped the western powers along the way? Shades of Saigon end of April 1975( year of my very first job in aviation), remember that year well seeing the TV clips of helicopters and the desperation of the South Vietnamese. Same month a C5A Galaxy crashed first trip of Operation Babylift , many orphans and escorts killed who were heading to USA for a new life. In a way some things never change looking at those Afghanistan clips of desperation( again).

I can't believe they're operating C-17 flights without enough security to even keep people off the runway (or the airplanes!). I wouldn't be happy if I was that flight crew. Anyone of those people could have explosives strapped to their chest. Taliban or just someone upset they're being left high and dry. Imagine the chaos then.

Afghan army folded .. the country wouldn’t stand up for itself, even after we gave them the tools ..
We are doomed to repeat history .. just like the current election .. doomed if we re-elect the vanity king.
I had to!

Would the Western world even care what's going on there now if the Taliban didn't treat women like garbage or dogs? Probably not

Won’t be the last. You can take that to the bank.
