This would be interesting to find out. Nothing like setting the industry back a few more years. Thx

They will target desperate Expats leaving China. Maybe a few pilots living in RVs willing to drag down the industry just to have some some seniority or influence on the new operation. Should be interesting.

I still can't believe people would give money to an airline that hasn't flown an aeroplane yet. I guess it's only $59, so most people are willing to lose that much on the off chance they get to go somewhere, but it still surprises me.
Re: Lynx wawcon
We Canadians are suckers for punishment.
Remember, some of the smug responders here used to clean garbage out of seat backs. And others have the lowest paid wide body pilots in the world.

Re: Lynx wawcon
I’ve heard a rumour from 2 different unreliable sources that the planned payscale is roughly the current Flair scale for the first few years of captain with a $40k bonus if you stay three years. As I said, just a rumour.

I hazard a guess that many/some/all of the guys gals who did that initially are probably millionaires now - and not just because they bought realestate at the right time, either..
Everything has an end, except a sausage, which has two!
Re: Lynx wawcon
The image is kind of blurry so I thought the year one day rate was $333. Had me thinking it was the annual salary + $333/day. Nope, just the new bottom of the ever growing barrel in Canada.
Re: Lynx wawcon
Not defending these rates, but I believe that it reads $533/day.
I see there is a retention bonus of $7500/yr for FOs and $15000/yr for CAs, but not payable until your 3rd anniversary in that seat. So if their expansion plans hold up, and you upgrade after 2 years, it is another 3 years after upgrade before you see the first cent of bonus. While I would never refuse a $45000 cheque, I don’t think it makes up for the bottom of the barrel pay.
Re: Lynx wawcon
Especially if they go under before bonus gets paid, you're totally hooped and just worked for several years as possibly one of the lowest paid 737 pilots in the world.

Is that the pre-employment eye exam? I think I just failed it.

Hard to say where all this new and expanded service is gonna end up amongst a less than 40 million population stretched across the second largest land mass in the world.
Re: Lynx wawcon
$553 a day, equal to $108,553
FO is not to bad at $279 a day, equal to $57,000.
Bonus is listed below the salary.

You can shout all you want about how bad the ULCC salaries are in Canada but what does Jazz start at again? That salary has to be at least 50% higher than starting at Jazz. Jazz's only retention bonus is going back to flat pay at Air Canada for less money than Lynx. I think I'm starting to see the salary problem in Canada. ACPA - I'm looking at you.
Lynx is better capitalized than Flair. They are starting later but have deeper pockets and much more corporate experience at launching an airline.
That retention bonus isn't much of a bonus at all. Too little, too long.
It's a sad state of affairs when a trucker salary is higher than any ULCC Captain in Canada and triple the starting wage at Air Canada.

Indeed, that is sad to see.Arnie Pye wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 9:02 am You can shout all you want about how bad the ULCC salaries are in Canada but what does Jazz start at again? During the pandemic, I got into trucking and with no experience I was making more than a 737 FO in canada.

Back in the day this is the point where Catdriver would check in and tell us that being a busdriver is harder than being a pilot and we should be so lucky (to be paid as such).

Are the Lynx financial backers the same investors involved with Wizz Air in Europe ?

From Wikipedia:
Indigo Partners, LLC[1] is an American private equity firm which has a controlling interest in the American Frontier Airlines and Chilean low-cost JetSmart, as well as holding stakes in Mexican budget airline Volaris and European low-cost carrier Wizz Air, while a partnership with Enerjet is planned to launch a new Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier called Lynx Air.[2]
Re: Lynx wawcon
Funny, the current CEO of Flair used to be the head of Wizz.

Re: Lynx wawcon
Why are you guys so quick to defend these rates? Double them (literally!) and then we are getting to the fair compensation range for a 737 pilot. I don’t want to, and have no intention of flying for Lynx, but if a new company comes in with industry leading pay, it only improves things for all of us. Not to mention it helps them to retain talent! If, however, the race for the bottom continues, we are stuck in this vicious circle of losing whatever gains we may have made in recent years!
