McMurray Aviation does this as well. I know guys who stayed for a few years because they could teach on the side along with doing caravan charter work. I think it's safe to assume that he meant 60-80 hours on average. As multiplying 600-800 by even the lowest paid instructor hourly rate yields quite the number.

The company that I worked for over Covid paid their class 4 $42,000/year fixed salary + benefits. It was the same whether you started as a new survey pilot or instructor.
