Maximum Flight Times clarification

Post by Bingofuel88 »

Sorry guys, can't seem to find a solid answer for this...

CARS states maximum flight hours in the past 7 CONSECUTIVE days to be 40/60/ or whatever, by 7 do they mean 168 consecutive hours?
Or do they mean 7 days where each day begins at midnight Zulu or something similar?

New flight time tracking apps seem to use the 168 hour method, meaning that if you're maxed out for hours they won't begin to "Roll Off" until you overlap from 168 hours ago...If that makes any sense.

Just wondering if there are any CARS scholars out there to clarify this.

Reference is to day ( i.e, 12:00 am) per calendar. When referencing hours it may change at say 06:04 AM.

If you reference the new Regs for 700.29 c), you’ll see the days reference as well as the hours reference.

Do you have a reference for that interpretation?
If an hour can change per minute, then why wouldn't a day be able to change per hour?

If it's midnight, then in what timezone do you check?

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

The previous 40/7 flight time limit is gone.

New limits are 112/28 300/90 1000/365.

*note* there are now restrictive flight duty time limitations in place.

112 hours in 28 days is if I do the math, 4 hours a day, , you cant fly very far in 4 hours,
