Is it every 3 weeks, or a ground school per month (the 3rd monday of each month)? There is conflicting information on the board…
Effective June 06 it will be 16 hired every third Monday. At least that is the plan.

So it would look like this:

May 16 ?
Jun 06 16
Jun 27 16
Jul 18 16
Aug 08 16
Aug 29 16
Sep 19 16
Oct 10 16
Oct 31 16
Nov 21 16
Dec 12 16

For a total of approximately 160-176 hired in 2022. All subject to change (class size). Current limiting factor is training resources available.

2023 hiring required for attrition will likely be 320-360 (class of 20 every third Monday).
All Yyz and yul based?

Likely eastern bases, but no one really knows until the day of when the positions and types are announced

The company may only make available to a new-hire course unbid vacancies. Further, the company can restrict which vacancies are available for a new-hire class, however, a new-hire will have a standing bid on file and therefore is entitled within seniority (and subject to equipment freeze language except for upgrade) to fill a subsequent vacancy. During the busy times, many new-hire pilots were being awarded base changes during the initial training phase.

So, which bases are available at the time of each new-hire class will change and may or may not include each of YYZ/YUL/YYC/YVR. There are no EMB positions in YYC/YVR. A pilots standing bid may trigger a subsequent base change.

Most likely an early bid (pre-August) will occur in conjunction with sorting out DEC new-hire logistics. So probably a byproduct of a negotiation. Therefore, hard to define a timeline. Also will see a return to a system bid that anticipates AC flow attrition and reflects this reality in padded total Postions available for bidding as it was pre-COVID.

Oh okay , but then how will the company awards equipment and base if you didn’t have a bid equipment before?
What it is based on?

Edit! Sorry, RTFA before posting haha.
So what are the current vacancies ?

There are no ‘known vacancies’ as an equipment bid has not been run yet showing any vacancies. There are ‘attrition vacancies’ which will first be filled by current pilots via standing bid then by new-hires. Current guidance is that new-hire assignments available for bidding will be CRJ/Q400 only (subject to change). These aircraft have bases in YVR/YYC/YYZ/YUL.

An equipment bid is expected to be run between now and August. There is a reasonable estimate that it will show up to 300+ vacancies if it looks out 12 months.

Out of curiosity….any word if the June 6th course is full already?
And second…would it be filled by qualifications or when the interview was done or offered?
If a guy had been offered a mid March interview but wasn’t available and did it first week of April, then sim and psych ( got an email two weeks ago saying that was successful) and drug/criminal check just shy of two of weeks ago, would that delay being course loaded, or would it be considered from when the first offer went out?

Asking for a friend!😉
