You know H, I kind of agree with him. There is way too much shit going on around the world regarding this kind of humour. I'm not sure you've been around here long enough to be running little "tests". Perhaps, when you're old enough to shave, you'll get it? Maybe?

"terrorist" Teddy Bear would have been funnier.

It's ok to offend terrorists still I think. Pretty sure you can make fun of Nazis too but the jury is still out on that one.

You sure showed me H!

So what's your next move? Are you going to post a picture of a dead baby?

I totally agree. The issue here is the use of the word "Islamic". H is just spreading more misinformed hatred. H, do you have any friends who are practicing Muslims? Why don't you share your little joke with them and watch the reaction?

Ya know some may think I’m an ass for saying this (CID) but if those damn Islamic extremists would stop blowing themselves up, maybe we’d stop making fun of em…just a thought. Until then, flame away.

This may be true KAG but is it truly necessary to make fun of them? If we know that certain groups out there are nuts is it wise to taunt them? Some deranged people are like kegs of dynamite. Why should we be the trigger?

That's a pretty common view. I think it’s a bit uninformed though. Blowing yourself up isn't a fundamental part of Islam, no more than getting your father drunk and having sex with him is a fundamental part of Christianity. Either conclusion can be reached by convoluted analysis of the scriptures involved.

So we need to ask ourselves why for example, Palestinians take such extreme measures as strapping on explosives and detonating themselves in large crowds. You need to understand that Palestinians in the various enclaves in Israel and the disputed territories feel quite restricted and oppressed. Furthermore they feel that their land has been stolen by a virtually unbeatable foe. They want to fight but can't win against an Israeli armed force that is heavily subsidized by the US.

Sticks and stones are no match for fighter jets. The Palestinian people in the region feel they have hit rock bottom and have little to live for. It doesn't help that the odd Jewish settler provokes violence and is armed to the teeth. It is this hopelessness that causes desperate acts such as suicide bombing. They understand that it is an effective weapon against a formidable and probably unbeatable foe.

Regardless of who you feel is right or wrong, I think many of us would consider similar actions if we felt as hopeless and desperate.

Howcome terror tactics against civilians is mirrored throughout the whole muslim world instead of just palestine? this isnt a regional thing here. Chechnyans are not arabs.

Exactly, and this is coming to a neighbourhood near you thanks to the Canadian mindset of inclusion regardless of how insane their beliefes and methods.

Don't hurt their feelings even if they want to blow you up.

I agree, that’s why I mentioned Extremists, not every member of Islam is going to strap on some TNT and have fun with the infidel. But they don’t seem to say too much about it when it does (often) happen. But show a PIC of Mohammad and all hell breaks lose – worldwide. Are you telling me the European Islamic’s burning flags and showing posters declaring the decapitation of the cartoonists are at rock bottom?
When’s the last time you saw one of Canada’s homeless (they’re rock bottom) blowing themselves up. How about the third world country’s – Africa for example, doesn’t happen there too often, and most of that continent is as rock bottom as it gets. Mind you I’m not sure African suicide bombing would make CNN anyway…pretty sad actually. :?

Point is, the Islamic religion – from an ignorant outsiders point of view seems alittle off. Infact I’ll go as far as saying organized religion in general has good ideas with good people, but is usually off the mark. I can’t condone killing another human being because he/she believes something different than I do, no matter what you may or may not believe.

Cheers.

KAG,

In my opinion, you are comparing apples and oranges. Homeless people in a prosperous country like Canada don't go without shelter, food or medical attention. People starving in the third world, have hunger and their own government oppressing them. They aren't about to blow themselves up.

How can you compare that to the Palestinian situation in Israel? The Palestinians consider the Israelis their opressors. There is a distinct target for them to attack. Who exactly would the homeless guy in Toronto attack for revenge? A realestate office?

I agree about comparing Canada to the middle east...thats why I threw in Africa...i'd say there pretty bad off, and view eachother as opressor's.
Point being not everyone bad off is blowing themselves up for a cause.

I was brought up in a Christian household during my formative years. From my early teens onward my family and I became non-practicing but I still retained my beliefs. A few years ago however I became very skeptical about everything I was taught and challenged everything to do with Christianity. I wanted to explore what was out there. With great disapproval from my family I signed out a Koran from the local library and I read it in its entirety. No where in the book did it condone violence. Instead, it encouraged the Muslim reader to accept both Jews and Christians, who are considered people of the 'Book'. I don't personally believe the Koran is from God but it also does not promote psychotic ways in dealing with problems. Yet these ways of dealing with less than desirable conditions seem to be common in the Muslim world. I don't know why. Any suggestions?
