Red Team Commuting

Post by twinpratts »

Sorry to belabour the subject... but I've heard something (unconfirmed, mind you...) that I thought might be too good to be true.
This individual informed me that if someone was commuting while working for Jazz, and tried to get on the previous 3 flights with no luck, they would be 'off the hook'. Now before you all start firing at me, I would like to say that it looks a bit suspect to me, and am only repeating what he said.
So can anyone confirm this one? :?

Confirmed as well. From what I understand, ALPA negotiated this during CCAA. It costs nothing to the company, but means a lot for commuters.

So let me get this straight. If I live in YWG and am based in YYZ, the day before, or the day of work, I try to get on 3 flights that would get me into YYZ in time to check in, and I am unsuccessful, I am off the hook with no penalties?

Really?

My brother and I both commute, he for lil red, me for big red. He gives himself two flights with open seats and decent weather. One flight has to get him there 2 hours before checkin and the other 30 minutes before checkin. If something happens he calls crew sked and they try to hook him up to the pairing as soon as possible. He loses the credit for the flying he missed but no disciplinary measures come his way.

Now myself I try to give myself two flights if it doesn't work out I try to call in sick nad pray I don't get caught........9 years of commuting .

Thrust set,

You guys (ACPA), should try to get this in your next contract. It costs the company nothing, but makes life so much easier for guys like you.

Remember it costs the company nothing but it will cost us something, and when you look at what we try to negotiate certain things just don't make it in. Jazz got it in their contract during CCAA and we got a higher priority for our pilots when we are deadheading.

So we all make sacrifices during negotiations some great some not so great.
