Looking for info for Canadian ATC jobs for American controllers.

Post by billfoster »

I'm currently in the Navy and have been controlling for 11 years. Seeing as how the FAA got rid of the Phoenix program, I'm interested in getting a controlling job in Canada when it's time for me to leave the Navy. Any info would be great!

Or have a work visa issues by Canada. Basically the "right to live and work in Canada". Some industries offer sponsorship visas for foreign workers, but I don't think NAV Canada (a private company that's in charge of Canadian ATC) does that.

From the NavCanada jobs portal:

No worries.

I'm curious. Everyone knows that a Canadian or other foreigner can't just turn up in the USA and get a job - you need a green card, which is nearly impossible to get. Is it not common knowledge in the US that it works the other way too - an American can't just rock up in Canada - a foreign and sovereign nation - and get a job?

It very much depends on the job they're seeking. Thousands of Canadians work in the US, especially the ones that live in border cities, as engineers, teachers, nurses, etc. It was REALLY easy for my father (Canadian P.Eng) to get a job in the States. He got his US work VISA in weeks and worked in Michigan for more than 10 years.

Again, depends on the job you're looking for. If they need you, they'll give you a VISA. It's not outside the realm of possibility to see that privilege be extended to experienced Canadian pilots with FAA ATPLs.

Well......Unless you are injected with the experimental Vaxx (Navy.....so probably forced to), you have zero chance. I was forced to retire after 30+ years as a Terminal Controller because I refused to be coerced into...GET VAXXED OR GET FIRED.......So I retired. The ATS system is completely F##KED in Canada.......Low on staff for years and "Managers" that have NO CLUE.....just Yes men and Women. Good luck to you but it is NOT a Utopia and the pay, while higher than some jobs, is NOT so great for 24/7 with ENORMOUS amounts of Over Time. If you have no family and don't mind giving your life away to a Company that will throw you away at a drop of a hat.....GO FOR IT.

ZERO exemptions excepted .......So you will need to be INJECTED.

It appears that there might be challenges regarding work visa issues in Canada, specifically related to the "right to live and work in Canada." While certain industries provide sponsorship visas for foreign workers, it seems that NAV Canada, the private company responsible for Canadian air traffic control, may not offer such sponsorship opportunities.

That's great to hear that you're interested in pursuing a controlling job in Canada after your service in the Navy. To get started, you can research the requirements and qualifications set by Transport Canada, anonymous instagram viewerthe governing body for aviation in Canada. Additionally, reaching out to Nav Canada, the country's air navigation service provider, would provide valuable information on the application process, training programs, and job opportunities.

Hi Guys,Free Fire Name
American air traffic controllers interested in Canadian ATC jobs should research Transport Canada's requirements for foreign applicants. They'll likely need to validate their credentials, complete language proficiency tests, and undergo security clearances. The process can vary based on experience level. Checking official websites and contacting Transport Canada for accurate and up-to-date information is crucial.

This is a bit of advice hopefully useful to you
Qualifications: To work in control in Canada, you will need to fulfil the relevant qualification requirements. For example, you may need to hold a Canadian Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) or Chartered Aeronautical Engineer (AME) qualification. These requirements may vary depending on the specific position and company, so it's recommended that you check Transport Canada's website for more information.
Understanding the Canadian aviation industry: Before looking for a control job, it's important to understand the current state and trends of the Canadian aviation industry. Learn about different airlines, airports and related organisations and take note of their job postings and requirements. Joining relevant professional communities and networks, such as the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute or the Air Traffic Control Association, can help you stay abreast of industry trends and build a professional network.
Job search strategies: There are a variety of avenues you can use to begin your control job search. Search online job boards such as Indeed and LinkedIn to find positions relevant to your background and interests. Also, consider contacting airlines, airports and air traffic control organisations to learn about their hiring process and requirements. Create a professional resume and cover letter that highlights your naval service experience and control-related skills.
Prepare for an interview: Once you've been granted an interview, it's important to be well-prepared. Learn about the business and culture of the company or organisation, and research aviation control-related techniques and procedures. Be prepared to answer control-related questions and demonstrate your skills and experience.
Seek guidance and support: Contact your local career centre or employment service for guidance and support. They can provide useful information on career transitions, job search techniques and career development.

It's understandable that certain opportunities may be limited to Canadian citizens or permanent residents to ensure the benefits stay within the country. However, it's also important to consider the potential contributions and skills that temporary residents or international applicants could bring.youtube vanced
It can take a couple years and supposedly costs $1M to train an ab initio. The company isn’t going to invest that time and money to train someone who may lose the right to work in Canada or who may not be that committed to staying in Canada in the first place. It makes complete sense for the company to only put those resources into people that have a permanent right to work in Canada.
