No, people are leaving. Every 705 out there is hiring and 703's will have to up their game to stay competitive.

Rumour has it they're short staffed causing them to call in their on call pilots to the base so it's 4 or more days per month that you're actually working causing fatigue causing more people to quit...

They are certainly short staffed on the FW side, airlines have scooped up lots of great gals and guys. I don’t blame them for leaving, night shifts aren’t great

The pay doesn’t really look too hot there from what I’ve seen advertised

Or back to military from what I’ve heard. Can anyone verify this? Doesn’t bode well for the state of things…

Wild speculation. Ornge will open a Southern Ontario base before improving pay and benefits.

Can they just do that? Won't that affect the travel times to the communities they serve? I'm sure there are some contractual requirements there.

Weird though, they used to be a top p(l)ayer. Seems like they aren't keeping up with pay raises in the medevac industry.

There are quite some pilots that are hesitant flying single engine airplanes in the middle of nowhere at night as well. Easier to find King Air people, especially if they can make more.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

I know lots of former employees that both flew and fixed there… all left on their own. I never really asked why, but I know where some are working now and That speaks for itself

Since some of the discussion above was about the rotary wing side, I will point out that they do in fact have several Southern Ontario bases. For a lot of helo pilots, Ornge was pretty much the top of the food chain.

Employers don’t care. They set the market, the job is worth what someone is willing to do it for, which realistically is anything they put on the table.
