Westjet Seating Capacity?

Post by C-206 »

We are having a debate about Westjet's seating capacity. For those who know, what is the seating capacity for the 200 and 700? Also, are they putting winglets on the 200s then switching them to the 700s, or are the winglets strickly on the 700s?

120 on the 200s; 140 on the 700s

I don't think there is an STC to put winglets on the 200 but I could be wrong.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. I was just wondering if those numbers were the actual numbers they use. I was talking to a mechanic who works with WJ, and he told me the seating numbers. I thought they were different. Thanks again.

First of all, no winglets approved for -200 series and there are no plans for them.

Present seating capacity for the -200 at WestJet is 125. For the -700 it is 136 (recently reduced from 140).

You can't turn a 200 into a 700

Doesn't work that way!!!

Besides Wj 200's are dinosaurs and pretty much worn out with some having +80,000 hrs!!!!

No winglets for 200's cause they are all gonna be pop cans in the next couple of years (replaced by 700's)

200 series hold 125 and the 700 series holds 136 (used to be 140 before re-config.)

We don't have too many 200's left as they are slowly being replaced by 700's so I don't see them ever having winglets.

WJGirl, correct.

To go one step further..

Our 737-800's will have 160, 163 or 164 seats. Clive said during the latest conference call that they'd have 164 seats, yet I've heard him also say that they'd have 163 or 160. 160 would be the most ideal and save the cost of having an additional (fifth) FA (1FA per 40 PAX). Not to mention the additional legroom. Also, with the success of the winglets on our -700s, and the additional weight of LiveTV on the -800, expect to see winglets on them as well.

If we go the 737-600 route, they'll be configured for 120 seats.
