Global reports it was Orca air.

Didn't they take over some runs from Navair?

Powell River CYPW accident

Post by Coastal Cowboy »

Where are you guys getting the info that it was Orca Air. I have been looking around on the internet and watching the news. But there has been no mention of Orca specifically.

Anyways hope that it's not true that there were people injured.

If so my thoughts ggo out to those affected.

IIRC orca has the old navair run to YPW.

Global mentioned it on the 6:00 news here. I heard earlier that it was a PA-31 doing a Bag run...

I hope the reported injuries are a scrw up and that both pilots are OK!

Man.. the winds were just howling down here. from the METARs winds... 30 degrees or more off the runway and gusting 35.. YIKES!

Anyone know if the boys are okay? Any YPW guys?

i just read in a press release that it was orca airways chiefton. went off rwy 27. pilot and 'passenger' on board. pilot has died, passenger in hospital. no names released. at the time of the accident, the winds were shifting from east to west around 30-50 knots. airport reopened at 1900 local.

Yup, it was a snotty day out, we finally shut it down because of the conditions. It was bad enough that when I finally took a ferry home to the mainland side, it took 30 minutes to put it on the dock at tsawwassen.

I got a call while on that ferry that I know the hurt one. God, I hope he's gonna be OK. My sympathies to friends and families of our lost one.

I wish these courier companies would learn that no bag is worth the lives of the crews flying the airplanes. These young, low time guys/girls don't need to be pressured into making bad decisions.

...thing is that we all want to work/fly...the friends we meet along the way seem to be our lifeline, our saving grace. Its easy in hindsight to see different, but we will still "hopefully" continue. This is a job like any other, and they are friends like we all have... I wish you all "goodtimes" may they be more than the bad ones. J
