Westjet bringing back the ports
I heard that the Westjet is seriously considering bringing back the ports system. They think its what makes the most sense going forward since all the connections out East are being eliminated. They have staffing issues and this would allow then to retain a lot of people. Man would that be a game-changer in quality of life and general morale!

What does that mean? Positioning on company time/dime during your duty time?
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Words are just that. I don't believe it until it's in legally binding contracts.

I believe they work by having crew members in a non-base location start and end their pairings at their location (port) rather than having to start and end at the base.

The "call" today made ports sound unlikely.Roundel Randy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:28 pmI believe they work by having crew members in a non-base location start and end their pairings at their location (port) rather than having to start and end at the base.

Re: Westjet bringing back the ports
They sent out a survey to "check the pulse" of the company. With 49% of all employees at the company responding and the highest score being 3.5/5, management sent out an email stating that they see that we are confident in the company's future and trust leadership.
There will not be improvements until they pull their heads out of the sand and stop pretending that everything is okay.
