SE-PIC ... How to get it?

Post by Draggin' Tail »

I've been reading a lot of posts about trying to build 1000 PIC before you try to jump into the right seat of something larger. Realistically for low time pilots, the only way to build PIC is on SE aircraft. Other than instructing, what are some ways/places an aspiring pilot could do so. If anybody has any company names in western Canada it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't have any company names specifically. But I have known people to build that time by flying skydivers and tow planes for gliders. There are lots of options.

Get that right seat in a twin. Chances are the company has a few singles kicking around. Fly them. You learn the area with a knowledgeable person next to you, feel more confident when you're cut loose in the wilderness. Talking about Northern flying of course.

Cheers

PIC is gold, without it getting the left seat in AB/BC is not possible if you fly charter for anything associated with the oil patch. Unfortunately, that's where the majority of the work is at the moment.

Bush stuff is the best, but photoflying and dropping jumpers both count.

Good luck.
