8-Minute Movie: "Pilots"

Post by TorontoGuy »

This is hokey, but it's kinda fun. And there's a leggy blonde in it.

The International Watch Company (IWC) launched a new family of watches called Pilot last night in Geneva, Switzerland.

IWC is the last Swiss company still making its watches entirely by hand. Its heritage dates back to the mid-1800s.

Part of the marketing is an 8-minute movie starring John Malkovich. It's hokey and silly, but if you take it that way, it's a hoot. (They also threw a huge launch party last night: took over the Swiss International Airlines hanger at Geneva and turned it into a scene from the '30s and '40s with Spitfires and Junkers, current movie stars and entertainers.)

John Malkovich sucks.

8 mins of my life....ah, I'd probably have wasted them anyway.

Ill settle for my Cardinal sport watch only 20$ at Wal Mart, Ive smashed it droped it, lost it, soaked it in Fuel/ Oil / Bug Spray and booze, hundreds of times. It doesnt have things that spin, it can't compute my ground speed or forcast the winds. It tells me the time and wakes me up in the AM.

Best $20 bucks I ever spent! :D

This is the watch I have, and I abolutly love it!

It retails for roughly $100 USD, and holds time great.

Some other nice pieces if you look at the pictures, I doubt you could understand the hebrew.

Well I thought it was pretty good actually. Perhaps you need to like pretentious European cinema to enjoy it. So the 1% on here then must have liked it.

Or are we all just a little upset that it puts into stark reality the decline of the pilot image in the public? Or just jealousy that it wasn't you flying not the Spitfire, but the Junkers?

Just enjoy it for what it was, and when you all make your movies I look forward to ripping them.

Just what I need .... to be told by some bellboy (hollywood shmuck) that I don't have "the spirit" "I have never touched an engine" I suppose all those night black hole approches into "fort...port...or lake noplace don't count. All the medivacs in the middle of the night ( the weather always seemed worse on those trips) don't count for sh*t.

Well Fu*k you John and your watch
