Transwest
The company is good for building your time and gettin gout as fast as you can. There a normal Saskatchewan company wich means they pay shit and you will live in poverty like the rest of the province. A float pilot probably makes $1200 a month. Northern Sask is not paradise, you might get stabbed or killed if your careful.
To those who r so quick to slam Transwest, I say you must have your heads in the sand. They r one of the fasted growing operations in Canada and anyone with a brain will recognize that and know what it means insofar as opportunities for fledling aviators. It is true that the conditions are not the best and yes the pay could be better. I spent a season flying for them and yes like any growing operation there r growing pains what do you expect. Aviation is a tough business and means long hours and hard work. But guess what if you hang in there you may actually be given the opportunity to succeed. I saw many low time guys actually get a chance without the bullshit of paying bonds etc. To those who r quick to bite the hand that feeds them ther r jobs out there that offer a safe and secure environment but this is aviation not the civil service. To those of you who r not afraid of hard work and want to get going in aviation Tanswest is well worth it.

Best Advice: go there, do your job, bitch to yourself only, and keep off the radar. Enjoy the people, and have fun. Make sure to take a break and get out of town (even to PA) once in awhile. Getting bushed skews your view on reality for the worse. Idle time just creates bitching.
Do you think if AC pilots worked +20 days a month and 12-14 hrs day they would have time to bitch about a seniority list thats been upheld in court several times. Or the boarding priority or every other chicken shit thing

Pre flight checks include;
-duct tape, check
-Jb weld, check
-hardware store parts, check
.........
Maybe they've cleaned up their act in the past few years, I'd give a big thumbs up for everyone working at the company, Jr. will probably smile and say hi when he sees you, G*ass will stick his pretty little nose in the air and pretend you didn't exist (unless of course you made a mistake that cost him some money, then you'll hear nasty things coming out of that gold spoon fed mouth). Again, a great bunch of guys to work with. Best of luck! (you might need it)

It is true. But by the time they arrive here they are only fit as a crunchy crust on a meatloaf.
Like I said, get it right kids. Go get spend your 40k on winged licensing, but load the chips properly. That's all Willie asks of you. http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=17443

STAY AWAY
From PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
STAY THE HELL AWAY.....
They have kids in PA making less than min wage... they have yet to change there pay scales to reflect the new min wage of SK. Oh and go there if you like having a cell phone and not being paid to be on call 24/7!
STAY AWAY!

Duffman: Hey Duff lovers! Does anyone in this bar loooove Duff?
Carl: Hey, it's Duffman!
Lenny: Newsweek said you died of liver failure.
Duffman: Duffman can never die, only the actors who play him. Ooh yeah!

EMPTY BARRELS MAKE THE MOST NOISE
To the guys lookin at Transwest for a job dont take the whinners and snivilers too serious. Its not disneyland this is a bush airline it can be tough goin but if u go there willing to work with a positive attitude your chances r good for a leg up in aviation. To the empty barrels who seem only able to offer negative comments let me offer u some free advice. I am just about to start my 4th position as a chief pilot, and i have seen a lot low time guys in this business and I can tell you it is not hard to figure out who is worthy at a shot at drivers seat, attitude and work ethic r my most important considerations after all it is a given that you know how to fly. Its not really complicated u need give them a reason to take a chance on u. Its not a perfect world and not all bosses r good guys but all bosses want to promote people they have confidence in. Just think in terms of what u would look for if u were the boss. Like Ricky said its about supply and command. The upswing is happening work smart and succeed.
With all the things that have been happening at TWA in the past while It seems to be pretty clear that this is a "stay away from" company. Pretty soon most of the captains will have less than 6 months in that position and all the co-jo's will be green as grass. Would you put your mother onboard?
if there were not so many idiots in the world, it wouldn't be nessesary to have instructions on shampoo bottles

lowandover..... TWA is a decent company despite what some are saying. I worked beside them on the same field for 4 years. Yes its Sask so dont expect to get rich here. That said, the company treats its employees quite fairly and Mr g*ass is not the "stuck up" ass that some have said. Hes actually a very decent guy trying to make a buck in a province with less then a 1 million population. TWA has about 45 aircraft. Ok, they arent all planes you`d take to an airshow to promote your company, but again their maintenance is quite good and the AME`s there have many years of experience. They do have some VERY nice bigger tin and they are working on bringing their piston fleet to a more acceptable "visual" standard. Remember they took on many of NDA`s crap that require ALOT of work. FYI.. its 25K just to paint a C310! It amazes me that some young pilot walks by the side of the TWA hanger, sees about 3 PA31`s sitting there looking 3/4 dead and assumes TWA`s fleet is all the same. Those PA31`s belonged to another air service and Mr G*ass that has been slated as an uptight "snob" , took on those aircraft as a HELP to a neighbour in financial troubles... then TWA is said to run crappy tin? Thats not fair or accurate. Mr G*ass and JR are truly TRYING and anyone that thinks diffrently has their head up their own ass.
Prince Albert is a decent northern city with all the amenities. Walmarts and McDonalds abound and Tims on most main street corners. PA is the 3rd largest city in Sask and I met my wife there so its not all bad:)
You could do ALOT worse then TWA! I wish you well with your choices.
Oh and remember.. ALL airlines are FEDERALLY governed and not provincially so in all honesty TWA could pay 5$ an hour and get away with it.. so if they pay 7.50$ to start.. well welcome to Sask BUT note that the company IS trying to pay what they can afford.
Fly safe
