Re: Announced routes
You can imagine that'll likely be the plan if you look at how aggressively Porter is expanding with their E2 fleet. There is only so much talent you can acquire operating out of the east.

Re: Announced routes
You Porter guys and girls are going to LOVE operating out of Pearson.

Re: Announced routes
Pearson is good for block growth. 2" of snow yesterday and the place was a mess. Deicing lineups for an hour and it was a Sunday.

Re: Announced routes
If you choose CYYZ as a hub and have a tight aircraft movement schedule (turns 60 minutes or less) be prepared for horrible OTP performance. And that is rain or shine.

Encore routinely plans 30 minute turns for the Q400 out of Toronto.

Re: Announced routes
yeg and yyc bases asap , they are recruiting ames n crew chiefs . according to the jobs on porters website.
my question is if you are startn up with jets and want good returns on capital fly under the big 2 radar, why not slide a couple of direct flights a day from yqf to yyz. There are 170k people 30 min north and south of yqf runway good length ils lpv approach. and im sure porter could negotiate a good deal on landing fees and overnight parking. there is catsa already there . would be like yxx 20 years later when wj first flew in there now major hub for swoop encore jazz etc

Re: Announced routes
You think they’ll open pilot bases in yyc or yeg over yvr?
Re: Announced routes
I think they would get a ton of applications if they opened a YYC or YEG base. I know I would apply. Porter operates pretty small bases so it could definitely be a possibility, especially with how much they want to expand.
Re: Announced routes
Porter pays less than everyone, except maybe Swoop. How are they possibly going to crew 50 jets?
Re: Announced routes
They pay the same as WJ at least for FO. Also fewer deductions, overtime kicks in sooner etc. Also as show in another thread WJ is 2-3 years on reserve and 10-15 years for an upgrade. Porter over wj swoop encore is a no brainer in my mind.
Re: Announced routes
They came out with their pay scale during a pandemic and were above most until recently. With the bump everyone else is getting, they will eventually have to follow suit.
Re: Announced routes
Not that I want to assist Porter recruitment but that is incorrect.

Re: Announced routes
Swoop and Lynx are just downright embarrassing. Make more flying a King Air doing medivac work.
Re: Announced routes
-WJ has 20% WSP company matching ( you put 20% of your salary company double it and give it to you in one year)
-WJ pays 7300k at the end of each year to FO
-Encore just raised the Q400 wages to approximately 60k
-WJ has union
-The 10% end of the list pilots are usually in reserve and right now it’s about a year
-WJ pays for pilots parking
-the new contract is in negotiations for swoop and WJ and with very good chance both companies are gonna have same wages
I don’t work for WJ but my point is between WJ and porter the answer is obvious!

- WSP means low takehome pay on an already low salaryNTPilot wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:09 pm-WJ has 20% WSP company matching ( you put 20% of your salary company double it and give it to you in one year)

- why make it a lump sum and not just have a better rate?
- this is just false. From the thread in WJ lowest FO holding a block in yyz is 2020 hire. Yyc is worse.
