Airline?

Post by F-16 »

I'm assuming that's the airline side, not the charter side, or both?

keeping my fingers crossed for everyone there.

sounds like contract posturing...who blinks first, eh?? Aren't the skyservice guys working on a new contract about now? Maybe the company is trying to threaten these guys...you know, lower the wage and we'll stop the lay offs?? My associates within the company are doing a lot of overtime, seems ridiculous to be laying off now :?

Any companies hiring experienced jet pilots?
Even when this industry is booming it can be downright depressing.
Sorry to hear that Buss. the WestJet employee forum is down right now but I did see a post on there earlier that they are parking 737NG's in India due to lack of pilots. They are also hiring Captains up to 62 years old. It may be ex-pat work but perhaps it will bridge the gap until a recall if your objective is to stay in Canada?

I've been on furlough 3 times, one door closes but another will open.

I am in Asia now.

Airlines ARE parking A320 and B73NG's all over here. They are desperate short of crews.

WJter's - Captains are fetching 16,000USD A MONTH on the B737NG. over here.

Skyservice - Lots of A320 gigs too.

I read a blog about an expat(Canadian) pilot in China have attached it here http://spaces.msn.com/karlchang/ . It makes for a good read to see what your up against in dealing with CAAC. I'm not trying to defer your decision but just provide a little information. It is a very current blog with his last posting today. Good luck and good hunting.

Layoffs

The layoffs and downgrades were recinded. No one is laid off. They came to an agreement last minute.
