I am about to relocate from England to Nova Scotia (Halifax area) and am trying to find details of potential employers-fixed wing or rotary wing maintenance. Can anybody help?

only luck you'll have there is in the rotary field for offshore stuff, not much of anything else.... 'work in Nova Scotia' thats the first time I heard those words together, lol

Try IMP, large maintenance depot in Halifax.

Lots of people from Nova Scotia work. But they do it in Alberta.

And the Albertans know them as "Newfies".

Cougar Helicopters is a place to go, I dont know if they are hireing but give them a shout. Like many said, its scarse here for work in this feild.

Has anyboby heard anything about the maritime helicopter program at shearwater? Is shearwater a military operation or civilian?

Shearwater is a mnilitary base. The Coast Guard has a helicopter base there as well.

The biggest Fling Wing operator BASED at Halifax is Cougar. Canadian Helicopters also has a hanger there. Province of Nova Scotia, Natural Resources Aviation Servoces has there own stand alone base at Shubenacadie, about 20 minutes drive North east of Halifax Airport. Limited job opportunity there.

A couple of small operators AMO's operating. One is Waterville (Kentville/Berwick area. If you are considering that one...DON'T!! Run away screaming!! Nope, never worked for the current owner, but I have worked with hime, snd he's scarey!!

Orenda is, from what I've been told, doing nothing at Debert (Near Turo) I believe there is a msall AMO operating there still (WebAir??) but I'm not sure. Left NS 14 years ago, and I ain't going back.

There is IMP, as mentioned previously. IMP do alot of Depot Level maintenance on military machines. They also own CanJet. Had a bunch of friends from the UK come over to work there, and they got laid off about 7 months after moving there!!

Yeah there's alot of people working in NS, mostly in September/October and November. Picking apples!!LOL

The rest got the hell outa there! Lots of work out west (Alberta!) Geez saw an ad yesterday for a truck (lorry) driver..starting wage was $21.00 an hour!

for info back here in UK the wages are getting lower jobs getting fewer and you can earn a livible salary just working in a supermarket.
