Cat 2 initial medical timeline

Post by Punipuniikuchan »

Hello people!
Just want to get an overview of the timeline for initial Cat 2 medical certification.
How much time did it take for you all to get the certification?
Do certain regions/cities have a faster processing time?
Does NavCanada allow you to join training while your certification is on going? If yes, until what point during the training they would need the certificate?

Thanks! :smt061

There have been a lot of delays recently but people are starting to get theirs a lot quicker.

I've seen a lot of people recenlty get them within 1-4 months.

I've been waiting almost 7 on the other hand but mine did require additional information.

If you do your medical right now you should expect it within 3 months or so would be my guess

Can confirm mine took <2 months. I was initially uncertain about whether I'd need to provide more info but it was all clear.

Anyone else have recent experience with this? Especially from the Atlantic area.

I was informed by my CAME that they had "missed a stamp" and had to resend it to Ottawa for approval. Very frustrated with the whole thing. Also haven't found a way to reliably contact Transport Canada to ensure they've at least received the fully completed application from my CAME's office.

Done my medical in January and received the certificate in May. There were grammatical errors on the certificate though (name and address both misspelled) so I had to request a reissue. Got it within a week.

Maybe that’s because you already have a book.

Have you tried filling out that inquiry form?

https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/medica ... -enquiries

I suppose someone from TC will have to look your file over even if they just end up telling you your file is under review.

I received my signed CAT2 Medical just over 1 month after it was submitted. Early May to mid June. Seems like TC is much quicker than earlier this year/late last year.

I've had my in-person assessment earlier this month and they told me they require your certificate before training can start. This was in YUL however and I don't know if other regions operate in the same way!

You can start without it, just need it before starting OJT. They give you a "deadline" for when you need it by for halfway through the course or something
