Pilot Hiring outlook

Post by skyrp0 »

Hello,

I assume this has been answered a few times but I couldn't find any conclusive information for this question so I apologize in advance if I'm wasting your time.

Basically, I have calculated that I would have enough experience to apply at AC in about 10-12 months (given that the requirements don't change). What would the pilot hiring be like in about a year? Will AC be hiring in masses like they are now? Would there still be open spots in YUL for me if I'm hired (it's the base that I would want to hold)? I heard YUL is quite senior right now... I assume I'd be quite junior for a long time if they keep on hiring like they are at the moment. I know these are very vague questions that you might not be able to answer, but I'm just shooting my shot!

Thank you and blue skies to you :D

I believe we are at 45-4600 pilots at the moment and the outlook that has been projected in the fleet meetings is around 6000 by 2025. Basically 40-50 pilots hired every 2 weeks for the foreseeable future. If a pilot wants YYZ or YUL, they will probably get it. YVR wouldn't take very long to get to like it has been in the past.

Good luck to you.

How long would it take to get a YVR base currently as a new hire?

Lately there's been a few classes that got YVR from day 1. If not, by the next bid you'll probably be able to hold it. There's an equipment/base bid every 2-3 months.

For your first bid, pick a position/equipment combination that’s also currently flown in YVR. Odds are you can hold it by the time you finish training.
