Would help with Encore retention, not that they’ve ever been concerned. Would also stall current CA negotiations if a merger was announced. I suppose that’s one way they can keep kicking the can down the road. They’re haemorrhaging pilots without a new and improved CA2, but perhaps burning mainline to the ground is their plan all along. Who knows.
One thing I do know is that this company never ceases to surprise me with bewildering business decisions.

CPA with Pasco has been predicted by a lot of people you’re right.
The YYC pass office apparently started this rumour. No longer giving ‘Encore’ RAICS but instead giving them WJ ones and telling guys the companies are merging. Happened to a few Encore RAIC renewals lately.

This is more likely, plus add Porter. Selling it to Porter unlocks some value, builds some synergy, and seems to coincide with closing YYZ base.

Was the RAIC renewal form signed by the Encore CSC or Westjet CSC authority?

I could see a power move merging encore into mainline before the contract, causing infighting between the alpa unions and throw a complex wrench into bargaining.

Why would there be infighting between the unions? Both the WJAMEC and WENMEC want Encore to be a part of WestJet and to make the WENMEC redundant.
