Given your experience, I'm going to assume you're relatively young and suffering from SJS.
What's the rush? Seniority, blah blah blah. When you're sitting up front in that boeing 797 or Airbus 370 in 30 years, you're going to be reminiscing about your time up north, not about crossing the pond for thousandth time.
Enjoy your time down low and slow. Bigger, faster, shinier comes with time. The experience you gain as Skipper up north is priceless. When shit hits the fan, you'll be happy you stayed up north, got genuine pic time and didn't rush to the airlines.
But hey, if you just want to rush to boredom, have at it. Command will be harder on a larger aircraft without previous command time.

Encore is a great stepping stone to AC. Westjet not so much since the PTA got cancelled. I would personally stick around and get some command time. Then apply directly to WestJet/AC. The latest WJ job ad is only asking for 750 hours total time.

They will start the numbers over again.

Yowdriver I would take this statement with a grain of salt. Porcsord is right that the experience you're gaining is invaluable, especially PIC time, but disagree that airline flying is boring. I tossed a B1900 around mountains landing on grass, gravel, ice and pavement and also flew around NA in a 737. Each has it's own gratifications. Flying a Q around between BC and AB is actually a good mix of both the flying you're doing with the structured airline flying you'll come to experience in the 705 world. I haven't crossed the pond yet so I can't comment on that. As for "seniority blah blah blah", well there is something to be said for it. The more people below you, the better your QOL and the safer you are when the industry is declining (and when the next global event happens, it will). There are also other obvious benefits like pay, pension, benefits etc.porcsord wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 9:36 am Given your experience, I'm going to assume you're relatively young and suffering from SJS.

It comes down to this; If you feel you have gotten what you wanted from the type of flying you're doing, then make the move. If you feel you are ready for the airline life, then make the move. If you are making good money and feel you want to experience more of the flying you're doing, sure stay put. I have a lot of hours in a wide variety of flying, and I still enjoy going to work. I know many that don't and that really depends on the person. My best friends are both AC pilots and both don't really want to go to work. I on the other hand still enjoy it. And that's coming from someone on the worst fleet/base AND junior status at AC
Re: WestJet encore worth it ?
If anyone takes advice on a somewhat anonymous internet forum as gospel..... they should not be in the flight deck.
Ultimately, your going to get a different answer from everyone. Do what's best for you lifestyle/pay wise, and the rest will work out.

100% TRUE! I seem to talk about my bush pilot up North in a straight float 180 that I experienced in one season than any other flying and I learned a lot on that plane.porcsord wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 9:36 am Given your experience, I'm going to assume you're relatively young and suffering from SJS.
