Nigerian Scams…
Ok so out of curiosity how many OTHER schools out there have a disproportionately large number of students from Nigeria wanting to come here to Canada and train at your respective “Citadels of Learning”…..
Just curious If im the only one playing quarterback for these things….

Hi,
i am a nigerian and at one time i recently applied to a school who told me that they have responded to so many requests from Nigeria and would not accept me even when i offered to make a deposit. Then i went to another who were so nice to me and i am preparing to go there. What a loss for the first school that thought i was a scammer and i will definitely turn up at the school to prove a point.
In every society you find bad eggs and while we really feel bad some fellows are spoiling the name of our country, it will be better if the schools find a way to deal with the scammers and not rejecting anybody nigerian like they did to me.

Well that’s good to know MayFog2; Actually I know a few people from Lagos who are here on student visas right now, so I know there are REAL students out there…
However I think there must be something going on when 80% of the international requests I deal with are from Nigeria; \As to how many of them are scams Im not too sure; I had one fellow that I must have spent a good 4 hrs (over a few weeks) who ended up saying he was sending 3 people over for (zero to CPL); He sent a check for $6,500 more than he should have; and asked to just be given the rest back. Needless to say the people never showed and the check never cleared; But If I was a Nigerian National I would be a might bit ticked off that people are doing so much damage to the countries name. I answer each request for info just as if it was from a Brit or a German; But please if there are any scammers out there doing their homework before launching a scam; don’t waste our time no one is stupid enough in this industry to fall for it, and immigration is more that a bit careful before issuing a student visa…. Not to mention you are totally destroying your countries name; the sad truth of the matter is If I hear the word Nigeria I immediately think “ok… What’s THIS guy going to try and do….” I certainly don’t consider myself a racist individual and like I said I know there ARE good people out there form Nigeria; But I have a hard time believe there are REALLY THAT many Nigerians who are seriously going to come to Canada and train….
CYYZ I also heard a rumor from a girl I know who does admin for a technical college that quite often it is used as a way to get into the country; which is why now the government requires the tuition to be paid ahead of time; and the applicant must prove to the immigration officials that they have sufficient resources to support themselves while here…
I think the whole Idea of scamming is to start out cool and normal, get a bond made over the course of a few communications, then present a problem (IE over paid tuition) then hit with that when the schools defenses are down…
Anyway id like to know how many other people are dealing with a lot of these things?
