Blacklisting

I heard if you leave Jazz, then you are blacklisted from ever working for Air Canada again. Do you guys know if there is any truth to this rumour?

Got a few buddies who left jazz, went somewhere else, applied OTS and got ac gs date.

So no, this is fear mongering. I suspect from management and/or jazz lifers.

You have a BETTER chance getting hired at AC from another airline than you do from Jazz.

Think about it. If AC Hires from jazz, then AC has to cover the training cost of the new hire, and since they also cover training costs for jazz, they also have to replace that pilot as well. (In theory)

If someone decides to leave jazz and go to let’s say….flair, sunwing, lynx or porter, and AC hires them, they are theoretically hurting the opposition. Especially if one of those airlines gave them a useful rating that AC can use. E.g. 737

I know of a few Jazz pilots who left for flair and went to AC way ahead of there senority would allow at Jazz. There is no truth in it.

Definitely fear mongering hoping to get pilots to stay. Know of a few who left and went to sunwing & Transat and now have started at AC within the last couple years.

I doubt any Jazz lifers are doing this, as a Jazz lifer I want you to leave, I never wanted you here to begin with, please go.
I say this with good intentions, you guys like to throw the long contract and shit pay in our face but my position and the union’s position was back then and still applies, if the pilots don’t accept the shit pay, the company will have no choice but to increase the pay. They are currently entertaining this very idea, slightly delayed due to pilots continuing to show up, thankfully not many with experience.
Anyone who says they would’ve done differently given the circumstances we found ourselves in, is fooling themselves, even the ones who actually voted no, there was no risk to voting no and they knew it.
Let me be clear, there is no blacklist and certainly no Jazz senior pilots discouraging pilots from leaving, if there are, they are certainly the minority.
Giver boys and girls, go get your 73 type and an AC PIT course!

I casually asked a recruiter about what happens If I leave Jazz and apply OTS and they said it’s just based on qualifications and not on anything else.

Jazz is the worst place to be if AC is your goal.

There's bound to be people who have done this and are employed at AC...

When I was at Air Georgian and decided to leave, I was told leaving the express family would forever bar me from being hired by AC. I left, and later got hired by AC.
