Any fire action out there?

Post by cedar tree »

It's a swamp here in Western Canada. Still big snow pack in the alpine, and in Alaska one could utilize a sled. BC had a nice bust a couple weeks ago with fire action throughout the province, but that's all over but the crying.

I've got 9 under my belt so far this year. An Armpit ON. railroad fire took 48, 415 loads to bring under control after it got into the Black Spruce. Some beer drinkin Tobin campers started a 36 loader in Clearwater Bay Lake of the Woods and we've had the usual 4 or 5 load stuff.
Out in La Ronge SK last week we had one day with 2 fires..one we didn't get about 60 miles south west of there and one in the Primrose weapons test range we did get.
30 hours in May.

Alberta's been going off so far this year, from what I've heard. Snowpack where we are here in BC has been decimated, way low for this time of year actually, and easily evidenced by the high water. Relax, it's only the end of May for Chrissakes!! Nothing really gets going in the south here until July. I think we're actually a little ahead of schedule. June is always the tell. I'm hoping that the rain we're getting now is the rain we usually get in June.

Would have been the Sudbury based crews. Not sure who is on and who is on days off. A Thunder Bay 415 was moved to Timmins this morning.

Things heating up in the western part of Ontario. Lots of lightning fires popping up today and should be busy for a few more days yet.

Busy in Ontario yesterday. Flew just under 7 hours and dropped about 70 loads on 3 different fires. Lightning fires starting to show up across the province. Should be another busy one today.

Whoa..busy day yesterday. I planted my front garden then I had 5 people show up late afternoon and drank beers, had Jurrasic BarBQ ribs and kept drinkin' until 1 am on my deck!!! Then got up for last call at Hess Village which is about 100 'staggering' yards away from my crib. :partyman:

Should be another busy one today!!!

Does it ever...

Hope they get some action soon - was a small fire in an old burn north of Whitehorse recently but I surmise it was enough to get them hoping for more.

Lots of fire action in Ontario the last few days. Flew 9.7 hours yesterday and dropped 93 loads. Everyone busy again today. The largest is a 500+ hectare fire burning north of Geraldton, just east of the community of Fort Hope. No rain in site so looks like things will stay busy for a while yet!!

There's Definetly Smoke out in the YK, not sure where its coming from but looked thicker up up towards Eagle Plains.

Oh and I recently got a great deal on Road flares so Tanker Pilots please send a cheque or Money order to Scuds booze fund and submit a general area you wish to bomb!!

Heard that the smoke you notice is from Fairbanks... could be wrong though.
