Canadian ATPL to UK CAA ATPL

Post by pilot112233 »

Hello All,

Just looking for information to convert my Canadian atpl to a UK CAA ATPL.

Not able to find much information about the step by step process to convert my license.
All I can really find is information about the 13 exams that need to be written.

Has anyone converted their license recently that can guide me through the process?

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks!

The ATPL conversion requirements are set out by Bristol Groundschool at https://www.bristol.gs/atpla/icao-licence-conversions/

Have you 500 hours in multi-pilot operations and a valid multi-pilot type rating?

Yes. Got a A320 and B777 type ratings. Dont have 500 on either type but do have over 1500 hrs on multi pilot operations.
Is there a minimum requirement to have 500 hours on type to convert it?

Normally for a type rating to be "valid" (or taken seriously) by a potential employer you must have at least 500 hrs on type. It doesn't look good to have an A320 type rating and have 150 hrs on type. My advice is to check with the country's aviation administration office. They'll be able to get you accurate information. A flight school in UK would also be able to help out.
