Getting an aviation degree

Post by bizjet_mania »

Im interested in getting a degree. Not sure if I want to get an aviation degree at Embry-Riddle or get a degree in something outside of aviation, like robotics or animation.

An underwater basket weaving degreee would be more useful than an aviation one. At least you'd be employable out of this field if you ever wanted/ needed to leave and underwater basket weavers make a mint.

You have your required commercial training to to work in Canada. Your education is yours alone - make it count. I have an aviation diploma - found work with or without it (It didn't matter to any employer). However, my teaching degree is a second career.

Unless you want to be an ops person, a safety person, or something along those lines, a DEGREE specific to aviation isn't going to get you a better flying job than anyone else. We'd need to know a little bit more about what you would like from this industry before you'll get the right advice though.

The question is do you love THE INDUSTRY or do you love FLYING? What do you want to do in this industry?

You don't need an aviation degree to fly an aircraft nor will it give you any superior flying skills over your collegues.

Listen to desky!

He makes good sense sometimes.

If you want to stay in the industry should you not be satisfied or not be able to be on the driving end then get one in aviation. If not.. get something in engineering or somewhere else that could supplement income or provide you with other knowledge and helpfull skill.

I hear theres a ton of work for electrical engineers these days!
