Heard from some different sources form within the company that they might be lowering their minimums to 3000 at the end of the year. Only thing is that the new guys will be seating right seat longer. Any one else heard this?
Wouldn't surprise me; I talked to their CP a couple of years ago and he said at the time that with their expansion he figured the requirement was probably going to have to drop.
I can't see this happening...we have a float of about 1000 pilots on our computer system all with 4000 or more hours. We only select about 15 pilots /month for interviews. I can't see any need at this time to lower the time requirements. We will be hiring about another 50 pilots this year and 180 for next(as a minimum). Rumour in the office is we have just signed for 5 737-600's to be delivered in 2005(this on top of our original orders) so the pilot req. would go up too...roughly another 60 pilots. Take care. FL

What happened to the confidentiality agreement we signed at WJ? Guess you didn't get that memo? You must be a real "heavy" here.
Nothing confidential about our hiring numbers and the rumour is just that...a rumour at this point thats what press releases are for. If anything it says to some, but not all pilots, that hey...there actually is some movement out there !!!
Hi we have about 45 aircraft right now...15 200's and about 30 700's roughly 500 pilots. Not sure what slander list he/she is talking about because we simply don't have one. You either give someone a recommend or you don't, that's your choice working here. Personal grudges against someone are never considered.
I'd really like to know how you figure that an upgrade at WJ will come in 24-28 months. If there are 500 pilots now, if you were hired tommorrow, they would have to double their fleet and crew in this time in order for you to see your number 501 come up???
One, over half of pilots are captains... Training checking indocing remove some. Medical leave for others. Therefore maybe 225 to move up.
Figure each machine as needing 7 crews each, which is 14 drivers. For the 501st driver, 225 slots means 16 airplanes. And one more guy in the training shop.
People getting hired at wj tommorrow won't see the left seat for decades. WJ doesn't have the attrition/retirements of AC. I mean, what percent of wj's captains are over 45??? I bet less than 10%. If Ac lasts through this restructuring, at least they will still have hundreds of retirements per year as opposed to 5 or 10....?? Can you say Career FO @ 50 grand.
