Re: Retro Pay
I've heard that ALPA is working issues on behalf of a couple pilots. Otherwise it sounds like it went pretty smoothly. I enjoyed the extra deposit on time as promised.

Re: Retro Pay
Haven't really heard of any, it all came in on schedule and to full amount from what I experienced.
If there's an issue somewhere it's not going to be a grievance (or at least I'd be surprised) as the company is playing ball with its pilots.
Re: Retro Pay
I am aware of at least two people who were entitled to back pay that did not receive anything at all.
Yes, there's a first time for everything.

Re: Retro Pay
Not sure what you're getting at. Even during the repo saga pay was on time for all the staff, pilots included. Have never had an issue with payroll here. I'm sure someone has though, these things happen.

Re: Retro Pay
Wow. We have 4 aircraft repo’d 4 months ago. Everyone saying we are days away from insolvency. Instead, payroll has always been on time, and the retro pay was paid out as promised by the company. And out of the ~270 pilots entitled to retro pay, you say you know of at least 2 who didn’t get theirs as if there’s more behind the story than a simple admin error. Man are we a miserable bunch.

My guess is those 2 people resigned before July and they're now saying that they are entitled to the retro pay.TC.Enforcement wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 8:41 pmWow. I'm not saying they're not, this is in the hands of alpa I believe. Not my job to determine if they are. But that's the only thing that makes sense because anyone that's working for the company and that was hired prior to January has been paid the full amount.
Re: Retro Pay
There are 7 from active employees currently on the seniority list. The two that I referenced earlier were definitely not former employees. I spoke with one, I believe he has or shortly will have the money in his account.
The former employees who were all on property January 1st of this year are going to have to go the legal route. During contract negotiations, the question was asked and answered clearly. If you were here Jan 1, you are eligible - the fact that the company was going to take 6 months to pay out, was irrelevant. If you voted for the contract, you're eligible. None of those people received a payment. This is a separate issue.
Regarding late payments, the company has a history of missing payments to employees on a shockingly regular basis. Ask anyone who sold their vacation back to the company last year. The company didn't even bother telling the employees until three days after pay day that they had to wait until the following month despite the 5 day requirements in the contract. This happened on more than one occasion last year. All the triple time offered on Civic weekend, Canada Day Payouts, May 2-4,...It happens so often that it can't possibly be a mistake.
Several employees, trainers no less, have quit the company because they couldn't get paid on time or accurately. Several more just wandered over to Porter. Can't say I blame them.
Yes, it seems to be better now. Until it isn't again.

Re: Retro Pay
Can't blame the guys going to porter, especially out east. Better pay, most likely similar rosters, maybe better. Clear contract, no union which some would say is a bad thing but tbh ours isn't doing much to make sure the CA is upheld.
Do you have any rough idea of how many guys are going over? I would assume a few from yow, yyz and ykf. Maybe commuters from yhz also.
Re: Retro Pay
Unconfirmed but I heard close to 30 guys quit after the back pay went out.
I heard 5 quit and are heading over to Porter and my guess is this is just the first wave. I suspect that August will bring more resignations for Porter. I can't see any reason you wouldn't go. It is over a $50/hour difference. Flair is now more days/hours per month for much less pay. I'd bet their schedule is out on time every time too.

Re: Retro Pay
Hit and miss with the schedule on time. It gets built manually at the moment and the E2 folks currently don’t get to bid due to it mostly being training. We’re told October is when the bidding ability will happen. It’s gotten better. The worst month was getting my schedule on the 26th I believe. Supposed to be the 23rd. But that was a one off.Arnie Pye wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 4:18 pm Unconfirmed but I heard close to 30 guys quit after the back pay went out.

It’s clear to me that they are trying their best, and that’s what matters to me. And it’s very clearly communicated to us.
