FYI... Aviation Document Booklet renewal...
My Aviation Document Booklet was due for renewal by October 01st 2023.
On Friday July 07th, I brought all that is required to my local regional office at CYUL to have it renewed for the next 10 years.
To my surprise, I was told by the security guard on duty at the building's entrance that no one worked in the offices on Fridays or Mondays but worked from home (yeah right).
He suggested I come back the following Tuesday If I wanted to see someone about my renewal. I told him it was impossible because I was leaving on a two week trip.
He then suggested that I leave all my documents in an inter-office envelop which he provided. I filed in the requested data on the envelop and he assured me it would get to the right department on Monday... I was somewhat hesitant about this approach but had no choice and went ahead with it.
To my surprise on Monday of this week (July 31st), I received by mail my new Aviation Document Booklet with the new document issued on July 20th only 13 days after I had dropped it off in that envelop... I guess miracles at TC do occur!

Re: FYI... Aviation Document Booklet renewal...
How early before expiry can you renew?
Re: FYI... Aviation Document Booklet renewal...
If I remember correctly you can submit your paperwork renewal for it up to 3 months in advance.

Re: FYI... Aviation Document Booklet renewal...
The way I was told is that 3 months prior to its expiry is the latest you should wait before you submit your renewal documents due to possible delays in processing.
This could have been due to the COVID years or just regular TC delays in processing anything these days.
That's why I was surprised by how short the time was for the processing of my renewal.

Surprised by this, an uncommon occurrence in our tax payer funded labyrinth. Glad it worked out.
Re: FYI... Aviation Document Booklet renewal...
there isn't an official rule about submitting a renewal but I heard within a year is fine
