Random drug tests?
Can I expect to take another drug test working at nav Canada or just for pre employment?

I LOVE to know that my future controllers are weaning themselves off drugs.youngatc12 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 9:43 pm Can I expect to take another drug test working at nav Canada or just for pre employment?

Why not ask them during your interview? Or if you're already working, ask your supervisor. I'm sure they can give you an answer.

Judging by his post history, I think he likes drugs lol
Re: Random drug tests?
If there's an incident and you were controlling, that'll be one of the first things they'll check. If you don't want to be off it permanently, this job isn't for you.
Re: Random drug tests?
More importantly than passing/failing an employers drug test, as an ATC you can expect to be providing key information to people who are flying heavier than air machines. People will be relying on you to perform every single day, and if you fail to do so you will be endangering their lives, the lives of their passengers, and those on the ground too. Take your job seriously, because the people who are flying above you need you to be switched on every time that you show up. This isn't just a drugs thing, this is alcohol, sleep, mental health. You need to be mentally present, because you are a key part of a team of professionals, and your ability to operate safely and effectively is what determines their ability to do so too.youngatc12 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 9:43 pm Can I expect to take another drug test working at nav Canada or just for pre employment?

But Justin wouldn’t have legalized weed if it were harmful, would he? Besides, it’s no more dangerous than the alcohol that you boomers drink - and nobody went home and beat their wife when they were stoned! Look at Snoop Dogg - he smokes every day, and he’s like, really rich and successful ‘n shit..

Couldn't agree more. I personally am not a fan and haven't partaken since high school moreso wondering what the standards were. Naturally people have made judgements right off the batnutlord wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 8:15 amMore importantly than passing/failing an employers drug test, as an ATC you can expect to be providing key information to people who are flying heavier than air machines. Re: Random drug tests?
There’s no drug test at work after your initial pre-employment one. Even if there’s an incident there is no drug test.

That's shocking. Imo it should be the first thing done after an incident.wordstwice wrote: ↑Tue Aug 29, 2023 10:49 pm There’s no drug test at work after your initial pre-employment one. Even if there’s an incident there is no drug test.

I think an ATC license holder knows better than to take drugs, be impaired, put two together and be found criminally negligent for the death of up to hundreds. You have a lot to lose if things happen.youngatc12 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 10:47 amThat's shocking. If you're suspected to take drugs even without an incident, I'm sure they will check.
Re: Random drug tests?
they definitely could check if they had reason to suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor. but there is no random testing.stabilizedapproach wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 2:46 pmI think an ATC license holder knows better than to take drugs, be impaired, put two together and be found criminally negligent for the death of up to hundreds. What if the incident is the pilot's fault?youngatc12 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 10:47 amThat's shocking.
