I know there are both Dash 8 and E2 ground schools starting on Oct 10th but apart from that I'm not sure.

Hey there, I am currently in a groundschool scheduled to start December 4th. In their interview I think they mentioned a October 10th and November 13th groundschool date, but don’t quote me on that.

Also, I know there’s a thread detailing what the first stages of the E2 ground school is like. Can anyone shed some light on what can be expected from the dash side of things ?

Know your take off briefing verbatim before you show up to class on day one.

The more you prepare before arriving at ground school the easier your training will be.

Don’t expect to be spoon fed the information.

Take the time to read the SOPs with the intention of actually understanding what is written.

Curious when Porter starts one’s pay. Do you log into an online portal to do the study which you’ll get paid for before groundschool start date?

Every thing starts on day 1 of ground school. You don’t get advance material. But don’t fret, the training program has made huge strides and allows ample time to learn what you need to know at specific stages.

Pay starts also on day 1 at your hired rate based on equipment and position.

Classes run every month. Expect to hear back within a couple weeks.

If you get called for a “pre employment screening” you’re basically hired pending alcohol and drug testing.

Alcohol? I’ve never hear of this, drug testing yes but alcohol, is this to detect alcoholism? Obviously, you don’t want to have a beer with lunch before your screening but this just seems overreaching. Alcohol is legal, what could they be looking for here?

It is absolutely a thing. High Liver enzymes, they can detect with blood samples. AC, Transat, and other majors require this these days.

Good luck! My advice for the sim eval…. Use any resources available. Ask the other pilot to verify your entries, and/or ask if you missed anything.

Hmm, guess I’m out of date again, Jazz used to be only drug screening, pee in a cup, no blood taken. I wonder if that’s changed too?

They won’t. Cuz you’re a troll. And if you aren’t and can’t get hired with 6000 TT, I hope you are banished to teaching chapters 16-18 of the purple Flight Training Manual
