Aerocourse IFR
Anyone here signed up in one of the upcoming Aerocourse IFR? I am in the virtual one, looking to compare study notes.

Re: Aerocourse IFR
I did the in-person course in the spring.
It was super helpful. I still have my notes if you have questions.

Thanks bwgilchrist
I think this would have been a lot to cram into a weekend course. We were told that this virtual format, spread over 2 weekends, allows more time, of course, to cover all of the material, and I like that we have a week in between to come up with questions or review what I did not get. And no hotel or travel.
The course started yesterday. I find their workbook and manual very good. I put a bit of time into prestudy stuff and that is absolutely helping. The workbook is essentially all questions with the answers and references. The confirmation email says what to focus on, (although it is a lot) so, there is some guidance. The fee includes Faculty of Flight on line IFR training. I really like the format that FofF uses. Short videos (<1 to 2 minutes) per lesson. An entire approach might be 4 lessons long. The downside is they only allow you to watch the course twice. I guess they don't want you sharing access. And access is for 90 days according to FofF. Faculty of Flight does sell their courses independent of Aerocourse. The IFR includes CFIT and CRM, which I will take advantage of once the INRAT is completed. Independent study for the INRAT is daunting at first, but it is starting to make sense. I am going from being overwhelmed to thinking this is doable (for an old guy
) I will say I am very much enjoying the learning. The presenter (Rob) does a very good job in the presentation and keeping the students engaged, ie topic questions to the group.
Sometimes I think I might never use my CPL, but I will just stay in the learning environment.
There are worse things to do in retirement I suppose and it makes flying interesting and fun.
Thanks
Cheers,
Shawn

Re: Aerocourse IFR
I was planning on attending, they had an instructor get Covid, then they canceled the course. I am fine with that, they refunded me the cost of the course, however they didn't refund the cost of the online prep course. After politely asking for those funds to be returned as well, they ignored the request. Had it been me canceling I would understand this line of thinking, but if they cancel they should reimburse all but the books. I'm not one to leave reviews, but all should be aware of establishments that treat customers this way.
Re: Aerocourse IFR
I must report that aerocourse did end up refunding the full amount back. I appreciate this and feel all who read my above post know of their eventual efforts to do the right thing.
