Aircraft Type course

Post by Camey001 »

Curious if anyone has ever purchased their own type course or is that the responsibility of the employer? What is the range of price for a 737max or a 320 series course worth these days? would it be advisable to purchase your own course to be more employable? Thanks

NO never. Everyone is looking for people. Why would you spent $15,000 on a type course? It's best if you get some experience on the type before going on course. Is this the case? Doesn't sound like it.

Type courses run about $50,000 - $60,000 for the ones you mention. Thats why companies put a number of guys on it to reduce the costs. you may be able to buy a seat from someone who happens to be doing a course. That may run you 5,000 - 10,000 depending on the company selling the seat. Personally - I would never buy a course....Thats the same as pilots paying for their type rating. Anyone who needs endorsed people will hire and put on a course. There is a large enough shortage of AME's out there that companies will pay.
