Time in the Log Book
I have been reading with some interest the views of some of the posters on this forum as it relates to their experience and being hired as a pilot at Air Canada.
Time in your logbook is important. This tells the interviewers that you have a certain level of experience. However, your experience in an airplane is not determinative of whether or not you will be hired. There are many other factors that come into play. Your personality, education, social skills, deportment, desire, and enthusiasm are but a few.
Just because someone with less time, or less impressive time, is hired by AC does not mean that we have somehow made a mistake or they are not entitled to the position. Many of our current B767 Captains were hired 25 years ago with 200 hours and they do a fabulous job in their current position and have done so in the previous positions they held at the airline.
There is no magical formula to get hired by Air Canada. However, if you have good experience, a post secondary education, good references, speak french and english, a friendly outgoing personality, and show the interviewers that you are enthusiatic about the opportunity before you, you will probably be offered a position at the airline. If you have only two of the foregoing listed items ensure that they are a friendly outgoing personality and enthusiasm for the opportunity before you. It is important that you also demonstrate that you possess these qualities during your interview. Your interview is a chance for you to showcase yourself and demonstrate that we would enjoy flying with you if you are hired.
Good luck.

Maybe they purposely set it up that way to see if you'll lose your temper over itC182 wrote:if the pen doesn't work, how did u write the cog test? cause i've seen a number of people say that now ....

Well, now that you have determined what the interview should consist of I am sure that you will be one of the first that they call.HappyCamper wrote:thats BS, thats why the interview should consist of 1) interview from line pilots. 2) Sim eval 3)training records and recomendations. Plus when I did the cog test, the darn pen didnt work half the time lol! 9 weeks no pfo, hanging on to the tail for dear life lol!
Heavy sarcasm intended.
Ah yes, KV and EG, the runway incursion dream team!Inverted2 wrote:flyindude wrote:Then how the hell can you explain EG from GGN getting hired?
They've been hiring the creme-de-la-creme from Georgian lately. (See I do know some french) Im sure GGN was sad to see KV go too, since AC got a shitty reference and still hired her!

seems like you need to know someone these days. Its sad to see good pilots being passed up on here for people like that! People slip through everywhere, just flew with a girl who couldnt enter a hold in a Airbus 320. My 4 year old nephew could enter a hold in an airbus lol

Why do so many of these threads that are intended to be positive and informative end up being inundated with such ugly, bitter, negativity??
Slagging other organizations is lame.....but slagging individual fellow pilots is just low.
I'm sure AC would really appreciate that kind of professionalism, you must already be on the top of their list of people they want to hire (HEAVY SARCASM!!!). [/quote]

I agree mustang sally!
I am also waiting for a medical date or the dreaded PFO letter ( its been 5 weeks since my tests and interview). But I have quickly come to learn that people indeed do learn from their mistakes, and that a screw up can happen to anyone. I have a violation from 7 years ago that was a simple screw up on my part. I learned from it, and am a better pilot today because of it.
So as an aside for everyone condeming these pilots....It can happen to the best of us, even though we do are best to avoid screw ups.

I think that it was pointed out the last time a thread descended to these depths, but for anyone working at Air Canada it takes but a second to figure out to whom you are referring, even if only by initials. If nothing else it's very unfair to make such comments behind someone's back, anonymously, and when they cannot respond.
I sometimes can't tell if this an aviation forum or a kindergarten sandbox.

I am sure most comments made on this board are from a humourous viewpoint. Pilots making fun of pilots! We all know getting hired someone is a bit of a lottery. The best may get called last or not at all, and the weakest may get called first. I think most on this board will be happy if you are hired no matter what your background, or sex, putting all the humour aside.
