Business Casual...
It seems that everyone I talk to that has interviewed for a pilot position at WJ has a different take on whether to wear a tie or not. Some are adamant not to, and others say they did as they would rather be over dressed than under.
I want to hear from those in the know as to what they did. Thanks.

When I interviewed a few years back I wore a full suit and tie. I was questioned about that on the interview and I replied that I wanted to put my best foot forward, bla bla bla, I did however take off my jacket during the interview. The guy who was next was wearing a dress shirt open at the collar, no tie and tan docker style pants. We were both hired for the same initial course.
Not a big deal how you dress, don't sweat it.

Obviously very different, but when I went to my Flight Attendant interview I wore dress shoes, black pants and a nice polo I bought from Eddie Baurer. Everyone else wore similar stuff, nothing fancy - a lot of the girls just looked like they were dressing up to go dinner or the mall. One girl wore a cute skirt and tie, another guy wore a tie too. Just really casual. Even the recruiters dressed casual too. I'll say anything below a suit is okay.

Tie ?
I have been through the process twice now and i really think they would rather not see a suit for sure. As for the tie, i think you could lose it as well. Don't get me wrong i still wore a tie the second round but felt way over dressed the first time with the suit. I know a ton of guys who did not wear either. JMO

I wore dress pants, dress shoes, dress shirt and no tie and I got hired.
One of my friends wore the same AND a tie and also got hired.
The interviewers were dressed casual but I seriously doubt that at anytime they would turn down someone who would be a good fit with WJ just because they wore a tie. If you are exactly the kind of person they are looking for (ie experience, attitude etc.) and you wore a suit to the interview I am 100% certain they will not sit there and say "oh man that guy/girl would really fit in well here, they're exactly what we want but too bad they wore a suit...let's turn them down."
Westjet may like to dress casual around the office but they are still professional.
I chose not to wear a tie but if you want to then fill your boots. If you don't get the job, it wasn't because you decided to dress up too much.
...This has been my personal opinion...

I wouldn't suggest full nude as it is considered indecent to walk around with the gear down ....however....showing up to the interview in nothing but say...a speedo.....probably would not disqualify you provided you were adequate in all the other categories they are looking at. I wore dress pants and a button up shirt, tucked in for the first time in my life, and got the job. Definitely no tie. From what my references told me I was over dressed.
